The FR Canteen is Free Republic's longest running daily thread
specifically designed to provide entertainment and moral support for the military.
The doors have been open since Oct 7 2001,
the day of the start of the war in Afghanistan.
We are indebted to you for your sacrifices for our Freedom.
Heroes like Lt. Alexander Bonnyman, Jr., deserve our eternal thanks (they certainly have mine) and must never be forgotten.
Thank you for your tireless work remembering those who gave their all for our country.
Hi Kathy, thanks for tonight’s Canteen and for honoring our Hero!
Bible in a Year :
Pray in the Spirit on all occasions . . . be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
As part of the whole armor of God in Ephesians 6, the apostle Paul includes two final pieces. First, we should fight spiritual battles with prayer. This means praying in the Spirit—relying on His power. Also, resting in His guidance and responding to His promptings—praying all kinds of prayers on all occasions (v. 18). Second, Paul encouraged us to “be alert.” Spiritual alertness can aid us in being prepared for Jesus’ return (Mark 13:33), gaining victory over temptation (14:38), and interceding for other believers (Ephesians 6:18).
As we fight spiritual battles daily, let’s permeate our lives with a “pray and watch” approach—combating evil powers and piercing the darkness with the light of Christ. .
Reflect & Pray
How can having a “pray and watch” mindset help you fight spiritual battles? What does it mean for you to stay spiritually alert?
Dear God, please help me to watch and pray for myself and others.
We slept really good last night. No storms except for one near El Reno right before bedtime. Ardmore, which had 5 tornadoes from the storms late Saturday and early Sunday, had power go out to the entire city from the storms. The whole entire city is still without power this morning.
There was also a lot of damage from the storms in Sulphur and in Love County as well. Schools in Sulphur, Ardmore, Plainview and Marietta are all cancelled today. We also had some damage in Duncan. As I was heading up to get our KFC supper, I drove by and saw that the roof of a convivence store's gas station pump was blown down. Also the first couple of traffic lights coming into Duncan on Highway 81 were flashing red in both directions.
Here is a picture of the KFC supper I got yesterday.
Yesterday at Comanche Lake:
And oh, BTW, we did have more severe weather in Oklahoma yesterday. There was a tornado out by Lake Eufaula. Also our storm alarm went off last evening for a storm out by El Reno with 60 MPH wind gusts and quarter sized hail.
What a crazy weekend this has been.
How's everyone doing this morning?
