DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — A judge upheld the disqualification of a candidate who had had planned to run against the judge presiding over former President Donald Trump’s 2020 Georgia election interference case.
Tiffani Johnson is one of two people who filed paperwork to challenge Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee. An administrative law judge earlier this month found that she was not qualified to run for the seat after she failed to appear at a hearing on a challenge to her eligibility, and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger adopted that decision.
Johnson last week filed a petition for review of that decision in Fulton County Superior Court. After all of McAfee's colleagues on the Fulton County bench were recused, a judge in neighboring DeKalb County took up the matter and held a hearing Thursday on Johnson's petition.

But this stinks. Johnson was challenged because the residential address she listed was not in Fulton County but she was in the process of moving to Fulton County. She says she wasn’t at the hearing because she never received notification of it.
I would think that the judge would have to have proof that she did receive notification of it - like a certified mail receipt - in order to disqualify her for not appearing.
And this especially stinks because in Georgia Obama was subpoenaed for an appearance in court for an eligibility hearing and the judge magically made everything disappear when he didn’t show up. I don’t remember all the details but I was watching it as it happened and every rule in the book was trashed.
I’d like to know exactly how they notified Johnson of the hearing.

Robert Patillo, a “Progressive Civil Rights Attorney” with a radio show remains. The Dems wanted to get rid of the second challenger to prevent splitting their vote. A state judicial watchdog agency is investigating Patillo, so who knows if he’ll last (if he is shown to be a scoundrel, that will help him in Fulton Co.).
Definitely sounds like some games being played here. My first thought was to wonder if she was notified of the hearing. Article says she wasn’t. Dirty pool.
