Speaker of the House Mike Johnson will travel to Texas this week, not to make another performative visit to the border he abandoned when he banded with Democrats to pass $95 billion in foreign spending, but to aid a fundraiser for his “endangered” GOP colleague who smeared Republicans opposed to the Ukraine package.
Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales, who voted with Johnson last weekend to pass another blank check for Kyiv, pledged on CNN’s Sunday “State of the Union” program that Johnson will keep his speakership despite conservative-led threats of ousting.
In return, Johnson will overlook Gonzales’ egregious maligning of conservatives while wining and dining voters in the San Antonio area into throwing more money at the establishment Republican’s reelection campaign.
“I served 20 years in the military. It’s my absolute honor to be in Congress, but I serve with some real scumbags,” Gonzales told CNN, naming Republican Reps. Matt Gatez and Bob Good, two opponents of sending American tax dollars to secure overseas borders before our own.
Gaetz, Gonzales falsely claimed, “paid minors to have sex with him at drug parties.” His amplification of the fallacious allegation was so bad that even CNN Host Dana Bash had to remind him that the Justice Department officially declined to charge Gaetz over the accusation last year.
The Texas politician also suggested that “Bob Good endorsed my opponent, a known neo-Nazi,” a smear that Gonzales’ primary challenger Brandon Herrera rejected.
“These people used to walk around with white hoods at night. Now they’re walking around with white hoods in the daytime,” Gonzales concluded.

“Bull. McCarthy was as bad.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Thus, what was the point getting rid of McCarthy in the first place?
So much wasted time...
It only made us look like political cannibals, “eating” our own. It’s not what the general public want to see. We republicans are bickering and yelling at ourselves in Congress, while the Democrats are salivating at our own masochistic self-destruction. ... in the mean time we have less time for governing.
And when it comes to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s... her anti-family values stance is unacceptable. Children should be respect, but she doesn’t care.
Marjorie Taylor Greene voted AGAINST a resolution condemning the abduction of Ukrainian children by Russian forces. What she did is Evil.
Here’s what I don’t get... This guy... Mike Pence... Others too numerous to name...
They all start out looking pretty good from all the research.
Then all of a sudden... BAM! RINO douchbag all over the place.
The FR Matt Gaetz Cheer Squad doesn’t want to hear the truth, but you are exactly right
STFU!
STOP attacking Republicans.
We have a majority of ONE in the House and a MINORITY in the Senate and A Democrat MORON in the White House and a presidential candidate facing a myriad of lawsuits.
Can we STOP going after our own? What could possibly be the upside?
NO ONE wanted the speakership, except the snake McCarthy. We had to BEG people to throw their hats in the ring. How many contestants? How many votes? How many days without a Speaker?
And you want to go through it all again in an election year? THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION IN YOUR LIFETIME!
The logic escapes me. Oh, right, there is NONE!
bttt
Guys...
You all do realize that by criticizing Johnson you indirectly disavow Trump!
That is not very wise.
Johnson just did what Trump wanted. You remember that Mar-a-Lago visit : Trump-Johnson? That was the moment Trump gave Mike the go-ahead concerning Ukraine. Why did Trump do that? Probably because he is a moral and Christian person. He is not a Chamberlain and an appeaser.
Former President Trump reiterated his support for Mike Johnson as the House speaker continues to face a threat to his gavel from GOP hardliners.

Do you realize no on gives a tiny piece of excrement what you think?
He wants the world to know, gonna let it show.
You’re quite correct. Gaetz and his cronies own this whole cluster-****!

Hrmm...
I see that you are dissapointed about me supporting the truth...
Again, Tump did indeed reverse Obama’s anti-weapons-to-Ukraine policies. Right? Prove me wrong on that , if you can.
I happen to support Trump’s foreign policies. But you don’t...
Why do you prefer Obama’s policies over Trump’s policies?
You still have some time to change your mind, and become a Trump supporter.
It’s never too late.

I supported Trump in 2016, 2020, and continue to do so now. That doesn’t mean he’s perfect, nor does it mean I should ignore political reality.
I agree with you.
My previous answer directly to E. Pluribus Unum (copied to you as an info) was to put forward the fact that many Magas have misunderstood Trump. Many think he is anti-Ukraine, and therefore they behave anti-Ukraine... but that idea has been created out of thin air. Because in reality, Trump is pro-Ukraine. He proved that during his presidency in a spectacular way. He was the toughest on Russia.
Trump really did reverse Obama’s Zero-Weapons-to Ukraine policy. Isn’t it ironic that some supposedly pro-Trump Freepers here are unwittingly supporting Obama’s foreign policies? It’s crazy.
Those here on FR thinking Trump will somehow reward anti-Ukraine rhetoric, are actually doing Trump a huge disfavor. It’s not what Trumps wants at all. Another proof? Yes, the Trump-Johnson Mar-a-Lago meeting which prompted the whole new pro-Ukraine approach in Congress.
Trump gave Mike the go-ahead for a vote on supporting Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan. These three are helping America’s stance in the world and are true allies of America.
It’s an investment for America own security.
I support Trump’s proven and tried foreign policies.
You sure do like to howl into the wind.
When they get there they are offered the opportunity to be a permanent member of the club (the big one that we ain't in) if they defile and compromise themselves. From then on they are willing captives of blackmail and all they have to do is do as they are told and the perks will roll in.
