Telecommunications giant Frontier Communications on Thursday informed the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that certain systems were shut down following a cyberattack.
The incident, the company said in a regulatory filing with the SEC, was identified on April 14, when a third-party “gained unauthorized access to portions of its information technology environment”.
Frontier said it immediately initiated its incident response protocols and took steps to contain the incident, including shutting down certain systems, which “resulted in an operational disruption that could be considered material”.
According to Frontier, the attack was likely the work of a cybercrime group that gained access to various types of data, including personally identifiable information.

So that’s why I can’t check into their Fiber Internet service offer. Doesn’t give me a good feeling.
The radio network our program is on wasn’t able to air our shows Wednesday or Thursday. Reason? They called me and said; “We’re sorry; it’s because of a problem with Frontier; we’ll make it up to you.”
“According to Frontier, the attack was likely the work of a cybercrime group that gained access to various types of data, including personally identifiable information.”
Yeah, U.S. intelligence agencies.
The timing isn’t coincidental - the actor was probably persistent in the third-party system for some time before attacking the intended host.
..... Well .... that explains why I went to pay my bill and ..... thought there was an error ...... anyways .... long story short .... I paid my bill 3 times ..... Now I'm trying to recoup my overpayments.
