Progressive 'Squad' member Rep. Cori Bush is continuing to dish out cash to her security guard husband despite a federal probe into her alleged misuse of campaign funds for security purposes.
Her most recent Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing reveals her campaign paid her husband Cortney Merritts - who works as her personal security guard - $15,000 in the first quarter of 2024.
That brings the total amount she has paid him to over $135,000. Bush has regularly paid Merritts $5,000 a month since January 2022, her filings indicate.

ah, black privilege pays and pays
Cori Bush's husband is not licensed for security in DC and has never been licensed elsewhere.
His only known former job was apparently loading trucks.
Biden always has that look like he has no clue what’s happening.
FTA-——The two got married in a private ceremony in February 2023, well after Merritts began working as her personal security agent on her $750,000 security detail.
The continuing flow of cash to hubby, an ex moving company employee, comes after she confirmed in January that the Department of Justice is investigating her for potentially misusing $750,000 campaign funds. Bush’s husband is not licensed for security in DC nor has he ever been licensed elsewhere.
Bush called the complaints filed against her ‘frivolous.’ Bush’s most recent FEC filing indicates she continues to pay her unlicensedhusband $5,000 a month despite a federal probe into her security payments.
BUSH PLAYS RACE CARD———”As a rank-and-file member of Congress I am not entitled to personal protection by the House, and instead have used campaign funds as permissible to retain security services,’ the Missouri Democrat said in a January statement. ‘I have not used any federal tax dollars for personal security services. Any reporting that I have used federal funds for personal security is simply false.”
The Democrat who represents St. Louis, Missouri, has spent thousands on security services out of her campaign account since getting elected in 2020. She has also been one of the most fervent and outspoken supporters of the defund the police movement.
She is also on record for paying a another security firm for the same services paid to her husband.
Before Merritts began working as a security guard for Bush he worked for a moving company in St. Louis.
A host of other possible charges’ for Bush are possible. That’s because in any campaign finance case, documents submitted to the FEC must be accurate.
In March 2023, FACT filed a complaint about Bush’s campaign expenditures with the FEC......the language on Bush’s FEC filings changed after the complaint - which could be an issue for the congresswoman.
BUSH FALSIFIED GOVT RECORDS ......Bush changed her description of her campaign payments to her husband from ‘security’ to ‘wage expenses.’ In addition to abusing campaign funds for personal use, Bush could potentially be on the hook for

So very true.

You think these black women are afraid??? Nothing to be afraid of as long as we have a Justice Dept. that picks and chooses....mostly against MAGA!!!
Fox News Digital reported Tuesday that Merritts was paid despite not holding a private security license, which is required by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, since 2012. The outlet also reported that Merritts was not licensed as a security official by the District of Columbia.
“Any time a member of Congress puts someone with a close personal relationship on the campaign payroll, increased scrutiny is necessary to ensure the legal standard has been met, which in this case is that the payments were for ‘bona fide services at a fair market value."
“Both the fact that reportedly (a) Bush’s husband isn’t licensed to provide security services for which he was paid, and that (b) she was simultaneously paying large amounts to another company for the same services raise red flags that warrant an investigation by the FEC."
Democrat Bush has come under fire for having spent more than $750,000 on private security. “I’m going to make sure I have security because I know I have had attempts on my life and I have too much work to do,” Bush told CBS News in August 2021, playing the race card.
Bush is not the only “Squad” member to draw scrutiny for allowing campaign funds to flow to family. In 2021, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) funneled $2.9 million to a consulting firm owned by her husband, Tim Mynett, amounting to nearly 80% of its revenue that year.
Muslim Squad member Omar who says she represents Somalia in the US Congress also enriched her husband.
Black, woman, Democrat...what do you think is going to happen?
60,000 a year ain’t jack.
Don’t it though.
Thanks for the ping.
Especially for someone who’s previous experience was unloading moving vans.
Strange how the race card goes away when money is around.

Progressive ‘Squad’ member Cori Bush spent nearly $100K on legal bills while she is under a federal investigation for her alleged misuse of campaign funds on personal security
Bush has paid her unlicensed husband $5,000 per month for security services since 2022

Progressive Democrat and ‘Squad’ member Rep. Cori Bush has racked up nearly $100,000 in legal fees in the first quarter of the year, according to her campaign finance records.
The massive legal bills come as she faces a federal investigation from the Department of Justice (DOJ) over her alleged misuse of $750,000 in campaign funds on personal security.
Bush has maintained she has done nothing wrong and is cooperating with the investigation.
The fees, which amounted to a staggering $86,000 between January and March 2024, may or may not be related to her ongoing DOJ case.
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) and House Ethics Committee are also investigating Bush’s use of campaign finances.
Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., announced she was the subject of a DOJ investigation in January. She has said she is working with federal officials and dismissed the complaints filed against her as ‘frivolous.

Bush’s most recent FEC filing indicates she continues to pay her husband $5,000 a month despite a federal probe into her security payments and for falsifying FEC documents.
Bush changed her description of her payments to her husband from ‘security’ to ‘wage expenses,’ Arnold said, calling it ‘troubling.’
In addition to abusing campaign funds for personal use, Bush could potentially be on the hook for perjury, filing a false statement and mail fraud.
Bush’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
I have no problem with her using her husband as a security guard. But if she lied about it, that’s another issue.
She married him in in Feb 2023, well AFTER he began working as her personal security agent on her $750,000 security detail.
The continuing flow of cash to hubby, an ex moving company employee, comes after she confirmed in January that the Department of Justice is investigating her for potentially misusing some $750,000 campaign funds (that we know of).
He is not licensed for security in DC nor has he ever been licensed elsewhere. Her most recent FEC filing indicates she continues to pay her unlicensed husband $5,000 a month despite a federal probe into her private security payments. Significantly she was also paying a 2nd security firm for the same services.
