Finally! Columbia is right down the road from Trump's bodega visit.
Perhaps they were concerned that Trump visit Columbia Jewish students next.

I am reminded of the old Li’l Abner comic strip of around 1966 in which the Students Wildly Indignant about Nearly Everything(S.W.I.N.E.) took over the campus.
The Regents were so terrified of the rioters they sold the University to the Mafia. Here came the rioters!
I still get a thrill remembering the stars that flew when the leader of the rioters assaulted the mafia enforcers’ brass knuckles with his front teeth.

The HUMILIATION of being zip-tied when REAL PROTESTERS at least get handcuffs.

Yeah, well...it’s not as if there’s anybody getting the ol’ Hickory Shampoo, or anything. Probably all will be released without charges & back to campus in time for class in the morning; assuming they go to any.

It must be said to the administration at Columbia that over the course of many years they brought the current condition on themselves. Their tolerance of the Fascistic protest actions to prevent speakers from speaking created the normalization of protests that cause civil disturbances as O.K.

"Why wasn’t this done in the 60s? Did it depend on whose ox was being gored?"
I was at Columbia in grad school for three years or so in the late 1950s. I have pleasant memories of the experience. It was a different world then.

Freedom of speech is one thing but freedom of speech crosses a line when it comes to property damage and harassment. Then it's not speech, it's actions that cause harm to others and damage to private and public property. All of that illegal.
I suppose you support lines of people blocking highways too? That's not speech either, those are actions, that cause other people harm. where are actions like these (not speech) written into our bill of rights?

Freedom of speech is one thing but freedom of speech crosses a line when it comes to property damage and harassment. There was tons of property damage and harassment during the Summer of 2020 of people "exercising" their speech and law enforcement didn't bat an eye. Look how fast the NYPD jumped its collective donut-eating ass into action when the speech is criticizing Israel.

No, I don't support that.
