As President Joe Biden visited Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, he called for an increase in taxes on the rich.
“When I look at the economy, I don’t look at it through the eyes of Mar-a-Lago,” Biden said during his speech. “I look at it through the eyes of Scranton.”
Biden explained that he wanted to make the tax code fair, in order to allow regular American citizens to keep more money in their pockets.
In an attempt to make the tax code fairer, Biden suggested a 25% minimum tax rate for billionaires, while slamming former President Donald Trump for being a billionaire.

Qui.....We are running out of OTHER PEOPLES MONEY!!!
Bingo! I tell this to the young people every time they say they support taxing the rich more. The end result was always that my taxes increased too, even when I was making $7/hr.
The “Rich” don’t pay taxes, they make political contributions. The foolish term “tax the rich” translated is tax hell out of everyone but the rich... who buy favor with their LARGE contributions. It’s such a cynical piece of crap.
Of course he did. Everybody must pay their fair share.
Unless of course they blew most of their money on blow, hookers . . .
Illegals, drug dealers, criminal and Welfare dependents of all kinds, are financially encouraged.
“Their thinking is that the wealthy won’t be affected by increased taxes before the next election, so they will still vote dem.”
There aren’t enough billionaires to affect an election with their votes. Where billionaires make a difference is in funding candidates. Which is why Congress provides plenty of special provisions, loopholes, exemptions and deductions billionaires can use to offset increases in tax rates during times when Democrats raise top rates.
This is largest billionaire loophole is “carried interest”. Trump mentioned repealing
it during the 2016 campaign, a promise immediately forgotten when he took office. Democrats occasionally mention it during campaign season but never take action on it.
Really- he doesn’t know a thing about Scranton from observations at age 6, in a house with a butler and criminal daddy and extended family. What a load of diaper dump.
Maggie Thatcher said it- and she was and is still dead on about these spongers and re-distributors.
And, it will make sure that exemptions will be in place for all of its buddies. Like Newsome (next Pres) did for the minimum wage out here in CaCaLand — he inserted a exemption for a big donor and budd.
He may as well be suggesting HIGHER TAXES on ice cream and "Milk Duds!" /s
Biden doesn’t grasp the fact that Trump made his money by hard work. On the other hand, Biden made his money by; well you know.
Yep..
My first thought was: “Oh boy, I’m about to become ‘RICH’ again…”
(I’m actually barely lower-middle class)
"Biden Calls for Increase in Taxes on the Rich"
The rich need to wake up and team up with “secessionist” Texas and other states who are tired of the unconstitutionally big federal government and do the following. Rich patriots need to use their wealth to encourage citizens to elect a new patriot Congress in November that will support hopeful Trump 47 to lead ALL the states to effectively "secede" from the corrupt federal government by repealing the 16th Amendment (direct taxes) to put a stop to the federal government's abuse of that amendment.
"16th Amendment : The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived [emphasis added], without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."
“If the tax be not proposed for the common defence, or general welfare, but for other objects, wholly extraneous, (as for instance, for propagating Mahometanism among the Turks, or giving aids and subsidies to a foreign nation, to build palaces for its kings, or erect monuments to its heroes,) it would be wholly indefensible upon constitutional principles [emphases added].” — Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 2 (1833).
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the congressional record:
”Simply this, that the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Constitution, is in the States and not in the federal government [emphases added]. I have sought to effect no change in that respect in the Constitution of the country.” —John Bingham, Congressional. Globe. 1866, page 1292 (see top half of third column)
“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves [emphasis added]. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)
Pelosi: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." (non-FR; 6 sec.)
Democrats [and RINOs] Are Terrified Of An Educated And Informed Public (3.12.23)
The 17th Amendment (popular voting for federal senators) needs to disappear too imo.
Start by taxing kickbacks, special favors, “royalties” on “books”, and gifts of million dollar mansions.
Case in point from Upstate NY...
Tax hike proposal to avoid job cuts in Corning-Painted Post School District
Check out the attitudes, plural, displayed in this article.
Also keep in mind that, like many districts in NYS, enrollment is down for this one, too. Though the article doesn't tell you that.
But the attitude displayed is infuriating.
The public exists to serve its so-called public servants. And if it hurts, too bad. Sucks to be you.
What's yours is ours.
Congress will have to give themselves a raise to cover the taxes ,LOL
Biden said, “I look at it through the eyes of Scranton.”
No. He said, “My grandfather would tell me when I walked out the door in North Scrat’n... Norths... uh... Nor... North Scat’n... in North Washington Avenue in Scrant’n... in my home town of Scant... uh... Scrant’n... Scant’n ... Scranton.”
Here we go again. If only “the rich” would pay their “fair share”, our fiscal problems would be solved.
If Biden really wants to tax the rich he should start with (((Wall Street))) carried interest.
