Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee is planning to propose legislation that would pull funding for NPR as the agency grapples with the backlash against its far-left bias.
The media organization that relies partially on public funds to operate has faced scrutiny in recent weeks since a veteran editor admitted NPR is biased against conservatives.
The editor, Uri Berliner, was later suspended and resigned publicly on Wednesday morning:
Meanwhile, NPR’s new CEO Katherine Maher is also under fire over old social media posts that demonstrate she has been a longtime far-left activist.
Blackburn, who spoke to Fox News on Wednesday, plans to cut off any government funding to the far-left organization, she said.
In a statement, Blackburn called out NPR.
“The mainstream media has become obsessed with doing the left’s bidding and taking down strong conservatives — and NPR has led the pack,” she told Fox News.

Been waiting 40+ years to see NPR defunded. Doubt it will happen.
When Car Talk died, that was the end.................
CPB needs to be completely defunded and their FCC frequencies put up for auction.
Good to go for it, but doubt it will happen, too many Rino Republicans in the House and Senate. If this situation was reversed and NPR was pushing conservative ideology, the Democrats would succeed in having it defunded even if they didn’t control the House, Senate and/or presidency.
If the police can be defunded, there is a chance NPR can be defunded
Bill will get written, and die in committee, or die in the Senate, or die in the House, or get vetoed by the senile pedophile warmonger misogynist corruptocrat.
Good virtue signaling, but that’s all it is.
“Blackburn, who spoke to Fox News on Wednesday, plans to cut off any government funding to the far-left organization, she said.”
How about ALL far-left organizations, like NGOs, that take federal money for starting wars and advancing the Leftist Agenda overseas?
This will 100% not happen. Repukes are useless.
Me too...Click and Clack, the Tappit Brothers was the only program worth listening to.
"Don't drive like my brother"
Wrong element of rednecks and deplorables. Our kind of people drive cars that are under warranty and if there is a problem well you just deal with the management school educated service manager and don’t have to deal with sweaty peons who actually know how to fix cars. Ickkkkkkkkkk
It will not be simple or easy. I’ve tried to get the straight skinny on its financing before, and it is a tangled web.

I loved the Puzzler section of the show immensely!...............
When Trump wins and if the Rs somehow hold the House and take the Senate, watch all of the latter two to forget all about these show vote bills and act as if they never heard of them.
That show would literally have my sides aching from laughing so hard. Anyone who never experienced it, really missed something.
Agreed
Never forget in January 2001, expecting NPR to carry G.W. Bush’s inauguration, as I was away from home and hoped to listen on the radio. How disappointed I was. Not even a mention of it. Have never bothered with NPR since.
I remember that this was promised when the GOP took over the House and Senate in 1994.
In the modern era, there is precisely ZERO justification for government funded and controlled media of any kind.
I agree. The financial plug should have been pulled decades ago.
No justification for government financing of radio, tv or internet.
These are all self supporting businesses.
