Those missiles cost far more than the cheap drones they shot down. If we even have a hope of standing up for Taiwan, we need to build bunches of them and not use them up.

Those missiles cost far more than the cheap drones they shot down. SM-3s are the shipboard part of the missile defense system - remember when they tested it (and the upgraded Aegis system) against a dead intel satellite? I suspect they used it against Iran's ballistic missiles, not drones.

Yeah, and they also cost a lot more than the lives that could have been lost if those Iranian missiles had been allowed to reach their targets.

Ballistic missiles, not drones. Interception altitude is above the atmosphere. I dont think SM3 handles drones.
