Murders have dropped by up to 20% in some major US cities — including the Big Apple — so far this year, according to a new report.
New York City has seen a 15% dip in killings in the first three months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, the Wall Street Journal said.
The five boroughs had 88 murders in that time period, a significant dip over the 104 in 2023, the outlet said.

I’ll bet this is not BS. I’ll bet it is reclassification. X murders Y and the DA says it is negligent homicide. Voila! No murder.

BS numbers. The only thing people need to do is look around them and read whats really going on. Many have done so, and they know these numbers are bogus.
100% BS. Just like every other time RATs see statistics that destroy them - they change the measure and criteria.

They aren’t counting crime and releasing, REPEATEDLY, a massive amount of criminals without bail. Not to mention the fact that they also are just completely IGNORING most criminal acts.

It’s in the far-left liberal news so it must be true. However, it it’s true, why is the government Gestapo still workin’ their asses off trying to confiscate the firearms belonging to free, law-abiding Americans?

If my prediction last year comes true about these media stories coming in fast and furiously to push the adoring, tearful, gushing American people to carry the Dems on their shoulders to triumphant victory in the House, Senate and Presidency, then it will be time for our alternatives.
Same with the “economy is stronger than ever and people are more optimistic than in 65 years.”
There are a lot of caveats with any government compiled statistics, and that goes triply for homicide stats for major urban areas that are run by the same political party as the weak and poorly performing occupant of the White House. The only crime stats that are consistent are the Uniform Crime Statistics compiled by the Justice Department - a consistent time series going back into the 1930’s. But that takes time to update, and I think you only have numbers through 2022 right now. So, cast a jaundiced eye on any crime statistics news coming out of Democratically controlled urban areas. It may be real, or it may be a response to a frantic call from the White House asking for some home cookin’.
Well, if you’re not charging murderers with murder, and you let them out in the streets without trial, of course your “murder rate” will drop.
I don’t know much about New York City. But I know something about Pittsburgh as I have relatives there.
The Pittsburgh Police recently announced that they will not be responding to a whole list of crimes unless the perpetrator is still on scene. If he’s not, 911 tells victim to just make a report over the phone. No cop will show up to gather evidence, etc.
Eventually Pittsburghers will catch on. Don’t bother to call in most crimes. Nothing will be done. The end result? Presto! Crime goes down, on paper anyway.
I suspect the same is happening in NYC.
Oh, and there is a nice bridge in Brooklyn for sale.
