A fair wage advocacy group is demanding that California’s new $20 minimum wage law for fast food workers be extended to all sectors to help working-class people who are struggling with the state’s high cost of living.
FOX Business spoke with Saru Jayaraman, president of One Fair Wage to discuss what she described as the skyrocketing levels of home insecurity and food insecurity post-pandemic.
Fast food workers winning a $20 minimum wage, she said, “was just the beginning.”
Jayaraman pointed to the exorbitantly high cost of living in the Golden State where, in some counties, an individual would need a $40 an hour salary to live comfortably.
“People are leaving the state or are not having children, not having families. These are all the very basics we should be thinking about for humans living in California and needing to survive,” Jayaraman told FOX Business. “I mean the level of crisis that people have been enduring since the pandemic is severe.”

Have any of these nutjobs ever cracked an Econ 101 book?
Raise the minimum wage to $20, and soon after you will have $10 loaves of bread, and you’re right back to the same buying power you had previously, but just with higher numbers.
(If an hour of labor today at $8./hr could buy 2 loaves of bread, then you will buy two $10 loaves at $20/hr., as a crude example)
One machine at a time...
Goodbye California. Government has no business telling any business what salary they must pay. Let the market guide the salary.
We went to the Dennys near our home recently... The prices were now basically the same as a normal restaurant. It was more expensive than the closer Applebees which has more tasty entrees. The restaurant was nearly empty. The manager was lamenting to us that they are no longer Denny’s without the cheap prices. He said that they were going under quickly, but with the high wages that they were now required to pay in our area there didn’t seem to be a solution.
How does anyone become stupid enough to think the very people that created these problems will fix the problems they created?
The market determines a fair wage. If you cannot attract workers for the wage you are offering, you will raise your wage until you do.
If you attract far more workers than you need at the wage you are offering, you will lower your wage until applicants match openings.
This is why illegal aliens are so detrimental to our economy. They are willing to perform labor at a far lower wage than would be acceptable to Americans.
Japan has Vending Machines for everything
.........so Saru wants to raise everybody’s pay to $20.00 for a few, minutes, hours or days or until their employer fires them or until their employer goes broke whichever comes first.
Liberalism 101 if I ever saw it.
Under capitalism doughnuts wait for people.
Under communism people wait for doughnuts.
California is a goddam joke.
It’s all about power and control.
1. Raise Minimum Wage.
2. Companies reduce hours, layoff and start using AI.
3. Unemployment skyrockets.
4. Citizens go on welfare but it’s not enough.
5. Universal income.
5. Companies leave the state drying up funds for the state.
6. State can’t pay citizens.
7. Citizens revolt.
8. Civil War.
9. Citizens lose.
10. Enslave citizens.
Ask Dodd and Frank.
I would like to follow the money. I doubt they are funded by kind hearted donors. I smell W.E.F.
Why doesn’t Biden forgive all debt for everyone, decree $50 minimum per hour and 32 hour work week. He could do it in one Executive Order, call it Joes Hat Trick.
Won’t the wages of people who already earn $20 in higher-skilled and higher-valued jobs have to be raised accordingly so that they won’t be minimum wages workers? These demands do not take job skill and value into account, not to mention the effort a person has made to get a higher-paying job. It isn’t exactly fair that those people should be paid the same as the people who empty the trash cans.
Yes, to the liberal mind, 0 hours at $20/hr is better than 40 hours at $16/hr.
Labor group says California $20 min wage ‘just the beginning’ vows to extend to all sectors despite layoffs because as the minimum wage goes up so does the union wage

Clueless California Democratic elite using politically correct $20 min wage to help destroy California economy is helping to get hopeful Trump 47 back into the Oval Office imo.
