A man with a needle in his arm. Streets littered with trash. Constant retail theft. Cars with broken windows from smash-and-grab auto burglaries.
These are some of the images that have been used recently to describe San Francisco. But even if that narrative may have been accurate a year ago, it is now contrary to what we generally see in San Francisco today.
In the San Francisco of spring 2024, you instead find commuters grabbing coffees and heading in to their offices; tourists admiring the streets comprised of unique Edwardian and Victorian architecture; friends enjoying the fresh fish at outdoor restaurants; and families playing in the beautiful parks. There is less crime and greater presence of police and city ambassadors. There are more drug arrests.

Are there any actual residents that will testify to this?
I smell propaganda, or maybe it’s just poop...
Is this a Bee story? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
As the election nears, propaganda from sites like this will intensify. The lies will state that the economy is prospering , the migrants are a positive force and that there really is no crime problem. The Biden cabal will release phony statistics to support the lies. The problem is that too many voters are too stupid not to recognize the lies or know the truth.
Until its office vacancy rate drops well below one-third, I doubt there is any real recovery on the horizon for this city. Even if its residents are willing to walk down the streets covered with s___t.
Recovery? If you call 💩💉 lying all over the street, legal shoplifting, and homelessness, recovery…then yeah!!
The solution...elect more democrats. It works every time it’s tried.
I’ve watched recent walking tours of Powell St. and Union Square businesses. There are entire blocks of boarded up stores. SF is becoming a ghost town. My last visit to the town was three years ago, it was hard to find a parking spot NOT littered with broken car glass.
The Hill investigated the Babylon Bee and came to the realization that if they published satire they would get more readers.
“With US cities struggling, San Francisco has actually become a shining model of recovery”
More like a smelling model of leftism. Much like the BS in this article.
Jon and Alex — That stuff you’re smoking is causing hallucinations! Put down the bong!
“The lies will state that the economy is prospering , the migrants are a positive force and that there really is no crime problem.”
Agreed
Once again, you are spot-on.
The gas-lighting and spin will be endless.
How much money did JON E. BORTZ AND ALEX BASTIAN get paid by the San Francisco Tourist Bureau to copy and paste this Press Release from the SF Tourist Bureau????????
They are trying to drum up business so go easy on them. However, the Hill presents this as as "news". If you read the article (ha ha) this blurb is at the bottom of the article so take it for what it's worth.
Another bit - what else could these two say, in there best Chip Diller screech, other than “All is Well!”
Jon E. Bortz is chairman and CEO of Pebblebrook Hotel Trust. Alex Bastian is president and CEO of the Hotel Council of San Francisco
This article is such horse S!
All you have to do is type in san francisco store closures on Youtube and you see whats really going on.
Twenty-five year FReeper, 40-year resident of S.F. here.
It's mostly lies.
San Francisco has come up a small way from the trough of two years ago, but ALL of the pathologies remain and are still extreme.
Rampant drug use and overdose deaths, people lying around unconscious, filth, graffiti, auto burglary everywhere, retail and restaurant spaces empty, downtown dead, retail decimated by theft, etc.
San Francisco is nowhere near as nice, friendly, decent, vibrant, clean, orderly, or fun as it was 20 years ago.
Maybe they’re getting ready for The GodKingEmperor Xi’s next visit.
