Salem mayor calls bombing at Satanic Temple ‘utterly reprehensible' (This is NOT a misprint)

An attempted bombing investigation is now underway in Salem, Massachusetts, after someone allegedly threw an explosive at the Satanic Temple.

The FBI is now joining other law enforcement agencies for this investigation.

The device was left at the Bridge Street temple at about 4 a.m. Monday, damaging the building, Salem police said.

Neighbors reported hearing a bang, but thinking it just sounded like a truck hitting a pothole.

The temple wasn't open at the time and no injuries were reported. A staff member discovered the failed explosive about 12 hours later.

Members of the temple said it's not uncommon for them to receive threats.

Members of the Satanic Temple and its co-founder said this attacks are fueled by misconceptions.

"I just don't understand why people just can't leave it alone. If you don't like it, don't come, but doing things like this, what is it going to gain? It's not going to gain anything except more hatred, and we have enough hatred in this world," said Rachel Sawyer, Satanic Temple member.

People who live and work nearby said the attack on the temple is concerning.

"It is concerning, it's very concerning that now devices are being thrown because now it seems like it's escalating because for whatever reason, people are actually taking it more serious," said Clifford Alleyne, works nearby.

In a statement to NBC10 Boston Tuesday, Mayor Dominick Pangallo said the city is a welcoming place and called the incident "utterly reprehensible."

"Yesterday, the Satanic Temple here in Salem was the target of a terrorist attack," said Pangallo. "While I am glad no one was injured in this attack, I nevertheless condemn this action in the strongest possible way."

The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force are now involved in this investigation.

The Satanic Temple in Salem is NOT The Church of Satan.

That said, it’s a reprehensible place. They are sponsoring an abortion clinic and raising funds thru a “name the clinic” contest.

I wonder how the Dem Mayor - a protégés of former Mayor/current Massachusetts Lt Gov Kim Driscoll - would have responded if a home with a Trump sign out front was bombed.

I’m not even sure where to begin unpacking this story.

“I just don’t understand why people just can’t leave it alone.”

Says a person representing a fake religion built entirely on the principle of trolling members of another religion.

But anyway, I assume this is a hoax until proven otherwise.

So, the bombing of the Satanic Temple is evil, as in Satanic?

Really no basis for them to complain.

The law, not based on their beliefs, protects them.

Parasites.

Salem is an abbreviation of Jerusalem. I bet they knew that when they built that temple.

Nah, I bet it has a lot more to do with the Salem witch trials and the cultural farm associated with that.
I’ve heard that the Salem witch trials and their pop culture fame have turned Salem into a tourist destination. Halloween in Salem is supposed to be a big deal.

Salem was part of my area growing up in which I evangelized, and Salem has made the above a money machine, but the Satanic Temple is mainly there because it is a more of a political org, which goes about the US demanding equal rights for their "resolutely non-theistic," supernatural agnostic tax-free "religion" (as per IRS).

Damned and deluded, sadly.

In 1982 I returned to Darke County Ohio to visit NY brother who had moved nback into the house as renter. It was home where from, in December 1973, I had joined the Army forgoing the rest if my junior and senior HS.

I was at upstairs apt intranet when a strange looking woman in a hooded French 1700s coat hailed me.

She asked if I was his brother and immediately mentioned rhey bought this house based on feelings for the photos... and they moved from Salam or what was the famous town to Pittsburg. She asked if I had seen anything before leaving home. I asked her if she was referring to a young evil white boy and a young Indian girl who hummed. She instantly recounted the same types of sightings. Each stayed to one side of th house opposite each other.

She told me about moving nicnacks and the girl singing on the window seats.

Weird to meet someone so tuned into these things who felt drawn to a home for just such reasons.

These are the things that exist without scientific evidence and any mentioning while I was working in TS jobs over 30 years would have nixed. The only time I ever told about this while in the Army was in 86 for my Delta Forxe interview and Dr. Asian said he wouldn’t let in because it ment I might have skitzofrenic brain damage. My old boss was upset I said anything like that.

Anyway, the couple from Massachusetts spent their lives trying to contact spirits.

I always say that if you have to try it ain’t happening.

The victims of the 1692 witch hunt were innocent. However, if the witch hunters of that time were to return to Salem today, they would find a happy hunting ground. When I visited Salem, a tour guide told me that its population has more self-proclaimed witches per capita than any other town in America.

Happy town of Salem, set on Zion’s hill!
Happy hearts of pilgrims, could they see it still!
He that follows Jesus, He that dares the right,
Sees the lights of Salem gleam across the night.

Happy town of Salem, with the jasper wall!
In its many mansions there is room for all.
Come to Me, says Jesus, I will give you rest,
And the town of Salem gathers all the blest.

Happy town of Salem, happy little feet
Of the children playing in the golden street!
Let them come, says Jesus, and forbid them not;
But the proud in Salem have no part or lot.

Happy town of Salem, with its open gates!
Happy are the pilgrims whom a welcome waits!
In the name of Jesus, they an entrance claim,
And the guards of Salem answer, In His name.

Happy town of Salem, vision true of peace,
Seen above earth’s strivings, steadfast when they cease!
Take thy cross, says Jesus, and the narrow way
Brings the feet to Salem at the break of day.

No doubt they would. I know it sounds like a badly written TV episode, but can you imagine the clash of world views a 17th century witch hunter would have if they were to to magically transported to our current day?
They would probably run in horror from the rest of us as well. Apart from the cheap comic scenes of someone with a funny accent seeing electronics and automobiles, they would soon learn that almost no one believes the same things that almost everyone they knew took for granted. I don’t imagine any that even 1% of our current day American citizens would be acceptable to those individuals.

No doubt, but for every witch dressed like one, there are vastly more incognito, from peons to politicians to pulpiteers.

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. (1 Samuel 15:23)
