Pence issued a statement on X, criticizing Trump’s announcement that he did not support a federal ban on abortion.
“President Trump’s retreat on the Right to Life is a slap in the face to the millions of pro-life Americans who voted for him in 2016 and 2020,” Pence wrote in his statement:
By nominating and standing by the confirmation of conservative justices, the Trump-Pence Administration helped send Roe v. Wade to the ash heap of history where it belongs and gave the pro-life movement the opportunity to compassionately support women and unborn children.

“But today, too many Republican politicians are all too ready to wash their hands of the battle for life,” Pence continued. “However much our Republican nominee or other candidates seek to marginalize the cause of life, I know pro-life Americans will never relent until we see the sanctity of life restored to the center of American law in every state in this country.”
Pence’s statement came hours after Trump announced in a video posted to Truth Social on Monday that the decision of abortion would be left up to the states to “determine by vote or legislation.”

Pence is as evil as Satan. Hiding behind the Christian faith.
Jeff Sessions too.
Fake “decent people”. Fools.
Detestable scum.
“”””. The underlying argument against Roe v. Wade by the “pro life” side was that abortion is NOT a Federal issue but should be addressed by the states.””””
I thought that it was just considered bad law by even many on the left and that it was inevitable that at some point it would be overturned, that it was based on a ridiculous finding of a right to privacy, and the Supreme Court can’t make law out of thin air.
I don’t recall the pro-life movement being based on the argument that abortion is a states rights issue.
Nice
I never said that. I said the underlying argument against Roe v. Wade was based on abortion as a states rights/authority issue.
Abortion should be prohibited across the board on a national level. Unfortunately, that is likely to require a constitutional amendment if it is to happen anytime soon.
My prediction is that abortion will be eventually outlawed in the U.S. when this country is filled with Hispanics and Muslims.
I was a big fan of Reagan, but I would never take a politician at face value when he claims he “regretted” anything in his past.
It doesn’t surprise me that you didn’t trust Reagan, but abortion is not a natural right or any kind of right and it can be made illegal if it is killing innocents, if it is just a troubling medical procedure and a woman’s right to choose without even input from the father of the recipient of the “troubling medical procedure’ then you guys are correct, it is just another thing that can be legal in as many states which choose it as a ‘medical procedure’.
These pro-abortion threads are still about people’s opinions of what an abortion is and what it is doing.
Arizona just made abortion front and center for November.
There’s a reason why flies are attracted to Pence.
Pence, you need to quit while you’re already behind.
The biggest sticking point is the word "born" in the 14th Amendment. This makes abortion no different than pre-1860 slavery in a strictly legal context in the U.S. right now. It will likely remain a state-by-state matter until a constitutional amendment is adopted to enshrine the 14th Amendment rights of the unborn child.
1. The argument was always that the preborn child is a human life. The 5th & 14th Amendments require us to protect human life.
2. There is no way that would happen. As I said, rooted in the 5th & 14th Amendments.
3. See above.
How dare you besmirch Race Bannon by equating him with Pence!

The Trump-Pence administration? Puh-leeze!
I wonder if Pence have the same harsh words for Fr. Pavone as he has for Trump. Just kidding. I don’t wonder one bit.
From a strictly constitutional standpoint, the word “born” in the 14th Amendment is very problematic for the pro-life movement.
Looks are deceiving— but really both are cartoon characters, the more so prancing Pence. But, get your point.
That’s a different part of the amendment. It clearly says a person cannot be deprived of life without due process.
The uniparty uses the abortion debate to ensure that conservatives cannot win office. They tie morality with extremism. so that anybody who is moral is also made out to be an extremist.
