Tell that to Syria AND Libya whom 'defensive NATO' has BOMBED in support of Obama and Hillary Clinton's machinations. Laughably ludicrous.
On March 24, 1999, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) began air strikes against Yugoslavia with the bombing of Serbian military positions in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo. The NATO offensive came in response to a new wave of ethnic cleansing launched by Serbian forces against the Kosovar Albanians on March 20. The first targets were Belgrade, Pristina in Kosovo, Podgorica in Montenegro, and several other cities. The air raids were aimed at halting widespread evidence of urban cleansing - the worst such outbreak in Europe since World War II - being perpetrated by Serbian forces against ethnic Albanian Muslims in Kosovo. The campaign ended after 10 weeks when the Serbians agreed to a peace accord that called for the withdrawal of Serbian forces from Kosovo and their replacement by NATO peacekeeping troops.
Yugoslavia was not a NATO member. However, in 2019, Macedonia signed an accord with NATO to become the 30th member of the alliance after a deal with Greece ended a 27-year-old dispute over its name. Yugoslavia was not aligned with NATO nor the Warsaw Pact, hence acting as a buffer between the alliances. Three former Warsaw Pact members were admitted into NATO. In 1999, NATO bombed Serbian military positions in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo in response to a new wave of ethnic cleansing launched by Serbian forces against the Kosovar Albanians.1 Since 1992, NATO has taken an increasingly active and decisive role in the former Yugoslavia, supporting the peace process, helping to protect the UN-designated Safe Areas, and preventing a spillover of the conflict to neighboring countries.
