WASHINGTON — Twenty years after George W. Bush won re-election with the help of ballot initiatives that rallied voters around a popular cultural issue, Democrats are dusting off his playbook and attempting a similar strategy to keep Donald Trump out of office.

In 2004, Bush’s team seized on popular opposition to same-sex marriage, with strategist Karl Rove encouraging allies to put initiatives to ban it on ballots in key swing states, hoping to stir up voters and enable the president to ride the measures’ coattails to re-election. It worked.

Now, President Joe Biden’s allies are seizing on fury over the end of Roe v. Wade and putting abortion rights on the ballot in swing states like Arizona and Nevada, as well as red-leaning states like Florida and Montana, where pivotal Senate seats are up for grabs.

Will they con conservatives into making abortion the number 1 issue again? Its worked for them the last couple of cycles. If they do women will put biden over the top and we’ll have another 4 years of this current crap.

There are no votes that are going to change over abortion. The correct conservative response is this:

What do I think of abortion? I think it all comes down to closing the border. This invasion that has been allowed by the Democrats has influenced everything. We have XXXXX crimes committed by illegals. We have XXXX jobs lost to actual Americans because illegals are hired.

And go on and on. Every question about abortion must pivot to the border. There is no reason to spend event 1 minute talking about something that will not get you votes.

Of course there were other variables, yet Wisconsin’s was an expensive
mayoral race where the Dems did not stint on resources.....but still lost.
<><>Democrats spent $40 per vote, 2x what the GOP spent,
<><>free-spending Dems lost which is very telling in political circles.
<><>2020 Biden spent $15 per vote there.

Significantly, the iceberg lying just below the surface - abortion - seems not to have been the clincher loser Wisconsin Dems were counting on to beat the pro-life Repub. (Zhang Fei provided details)

That’s the only policy they have left that’s not “an abortion.”

I agree that every question about abortion should pivot to the border invasion.
