The coalition war cabinet told the Israeli people the consensus war plan.
1. eliminate Hamas in Gaza while attempting to rescue the hostages. ( Israel as a nation feared that Hamas would start executing the hostages as a negotiating tool).
2. maintain order in Israel, especially east Jerusalem.
3. Hezbollah is 10 times worse in terms of capability than Hamas, so don't leave them to the kids and grandkids. ( They are next)
4. Iran is the dirty player, so destroy their Nuclear program and ability to support terrorists attacking Israel.
Israel knew there would come a time when they might have to go it alone.
