"I’m for a modified lend lease..."

And where would Ukraine get the money to pay it back, like Russia and the U.K. after WWII?

“I’m for a modified lend lease...
And where would Ukraine get the money to pay it back, like Russia and the U.K. after WWII?”

Interesting Four Points:
1. Lend-Lease ended on September 2, 1945, following the surrender of Japan

2. USSR Repayment:
The U.S. asked for $1.3 billion to settle the debt, but was only offered $170 million by the USSR.
In 1972, the dispute remained when the U.S. accepted an offer from the USSR to repay $722 million linked to grain shipments from the U.S. With inflation, this only represented 25% of the initial debt with the remainder being written off.

3. Great Britain Repayment:
The final payment of $83.3 million (£42.5 million), was made by Britain on December 29, 2006. After this final payment, Britain’s Economic Secretary to the Treasury formally issued thanks to the U.S. for its wartime support.

4. The Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022 was passed by U.S. Congress which President Biden signed, the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022 to: supply military, economic and humanitarian aid to Ukraine in its defense against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

3000+ relatively obsolete tanks are best placed in Europe now, for possible immediate use by NATO, or transfer by NATO to Ukraine.

Every Russian tank or soldier eliminated in Ukraine now is one less that NATO will likely have to destroy. This point should go without saying, but apparently it bears repeating.

They are for short-medium term contingencies at this point. Short term 1-3 years, mid 4-6 years. After that we are probably dealing with an entirely different technological situation.

The US forces that could use them dont exist now, even in cadre, and it would be a long term, 6-10 years, before a conscripted US Army can be created on a peacetime basis. And at that point we are (as above) looking at a very different technological situation.

Russia!
Frozen assets, a levy on exports, there are many options.

An export levy can work rather like the petroleum price cap currently being enforced.

Like I asked before, how will they pay it back? You didn't answer bother to answer the question.

“And where would Ukraine get the money to pay it back, like Russia and the U.K. after WWII?”

Answer for your USSR & Great Britain example of
Lend-Lease Payback for WWII by USSR & Great Britain

2. Great Britain Repayment:

Poland warns the world we are in a pre-war era and the next six months will determine how the next war that Russia starts will play out.

Ukraine is a major grain exporter, and also has oil and other mineral wealth. On the down side, there’s been major infrastructure damage, and their currency is crap. Once they’ve rebuilt, they’ll be making money to repay.

A fire covering an area of 4,000 sq. m broke out in a machinery room at the Uralmashzavod plant in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg on 1 April. Eyewitnesses had heard an explosion just before.

SOURCE:
Kremlin-aligned Russian news outlets RIA Novosti, Dozhd and E1.RU

DETAILS:
The Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that the roof of a workshop had caught fire on the territory of an industrial site in Yekaterinburg and that the fire covered an area of 4,000 sq. m.

Local media outlets reported that eyewitnesses heard something exploding first, after which smoke started pouring out.

The plant itself claimed that the building where the blaze occurred did not belong to them. “It’s not our building that’s on fire, it doesn’t belong to us. It is located on the Uralmashzavod industrial site, but a long way away from our production facilities, and we’re not the owners of that building,” they said.

The cause of the fire has not been established. No casualties were reported.

FOR REFERENCE:
Uralmashzavod is a Russian machine-building company based in the city of Yekaterinburg that manufactures equipment for the metallurgy, mining and energy industries.
