Ladder 11 had a black US flag with a red line in a firetruck
New York firefighters are in the midst of a controversy over a black United States flag with a red line on it that they were forced to remove for reportedly being considered "fascist" by New York officials following a constituent's complain.
According to Ladder 11, the black US flag honors the six brothers who were killed on 9/11, however, a person representing Democratic Manhattan Councilwoman Carlina Rivera demanded it was taken down.
According to Lisander Rosario, some constituents complained about the symbol "He called it a "fascist symbol" "[FDNY staff] claimed it was to honor deceased firefighters, however, [the constituent] brought up that they could've used an FDNY flag rather than a politically charged symbol,/I.," Rosario wrote.
The NY Post obtained correspondence between the fire department and the councilwoman where she wrote "It is to both his and our understanding that private political symbols aren't permitted to be displayed on public vehicles." "Can you confirm if there are any violating flags/symbols on Ladder 11?".
Back in 2020 Commissioner Daniel Nigro and then-First Deputy Commissioner Laura Kavanagh implemented the public vehicles rule just when there were anti-police movements during the Black Lives Matter protest.
FDNY Deputy Chief Joseph Schiralli went to the firehouse and with some reservations made the team remove the black US flag while telling them he also thought it was ridiculous.
A few hours later Commissioner Kavanagh and Chief of Department John Hodgens reversed the instruction and they were allowed to have it up again.
Lader 11 firefighters were open about the subject "We're happy with the outcome of this - but we're offended it happened in the first place," while adding "This flag has huge significance for us."
"I wish [Rivera's office] would have come at it like 'Hey, we want to learn about the flag and what it represents' before they asked for it to be taken down,'" said another Ladder 11 fireman.
Meanwhile, Rivera mentioned that her relationship with L11 has been a strong one and even allocated $450,000 in Council discretionary funds to improve the company's firehouse.
But they can display rainbow π flags and commie propaganda without a problem.

Just say no. Nothing else. They count of fear based compliance and are often completely unprepared for a simple refusal.
How can ‘the state’ rule against the symbol of the flag that grants them their authorati.
Let it burn.
What about swastikaβs at pro-Palestinian rallies?
Here we go again. This story is behind the times and full of inaccuracies. Read the story posted last night. But read the entire article to the end.

I hate it when conservatives act like democrats.
Women are natural born fascists when given positions in government, especially black women.
It’s the schoolmarm thing. You are children and I am in charge.
Apparently theyβll turn a blind eye to those as well, sadly.
You are 100 % correct about women with any power.
Democrat men tend to have the same attitude.
I do agree that the puff flags are flying everywhere and propaganda galore but the fact remains that 4 USC prevents an alteration of the American flag unless they have a proclamation from the commander of the United States military. Get that and I am all for them but we cannot combat the loons when we condone something against USC. It would be so simple to have old SloJoe to sign one for the firefighters, Popo and who ever else wants a thin line flag.
They reversed their decision and the flag can now be displayed. However, I am the son of a firefighter and I know he would have thought altered American flags in poor taste.
Technically it is still a violation of civil flag code. I don’t like the little snowflakes complaints but I am old fashioned and either display the flag properly or not at all.
