Two years ago, the Biden administration rammed through Congress a trillion-dollar infrastructure bill that contained, among other boondoggles, $7.5 billion for building EV charging stations across the country.
The administration says it's going to need 500,000 charging stations in place by 2030 to achieve Biden's climate goals on emissions. So far, a grand total of seven charging stations are operational.
“I think a lot of people who are watching this are getting concerned about the timeline,” said Alexander Laska, a deputy director at the Third Way think tank.
Gee! Ya think?
How many charging stations will $7.5 billion buy? The Federal Highway Administration estimates that the money will buy 20,000 stations. And Biden's goal of 500,000 EV charging stations isn't nearly enough.
Some estimates place the number of stations needed to adequately cover the United States for all the EVs that Biden says we have to buy at closer to a million by 2035.
"The US needs to quadruple its charging infrastructure by 2025, and grow it more than eight times by 2030," according to a report out of S&P Global Mobility.
The White House knows full well the chaos that's about to descend on American highways. They figure that's the price we have to pay to save our precious planet.
"A recent study from the National Renewable Energy Lab estimated that in order to meet anticipated charging needs by 2030, a cumulative investment of between $31 and $55 billion for about 1.2 million publicly accessible charging units will be required (on top of about 28 million home charging units)," noted a White House press release from last December.
The reality is that the charging stations open at this moment are unreliable.

Thieves cut the cords off for the COPPER inside them.

Not a hard engineering problem. Keep the cables energized!
Here in Valley of the Sun, there are many charging stations in parking lots and plazas.
I barely see anybody using them!
I do not see any need of more of them.
The charging power for the speedy chargers is 360,000 W
About 10X what my house is wired for (any my house is wired above average of US houses) and we normally use about tenth of it.
If you have, say, five or six charging stations, you need wiring for good 500 houses. Basically for a town of couple thousands of residents. That’s hard to do.
So many, (most) charging stations are very slow, using less power.
At my home, using 120V charger, EV would take few days to fully charge.
This guy has lots of EV videos , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjG15K6BU5o
Diesel generators will run them.
Nice catch.

Kamala Harris in charge?
Does they charge yellow school buses?
EV charging at home...
Yeah if ya just want to go to work or your local store and not to the next town...
well thats if ya work just down the street...
Happy Charging Day
every day...
Total kickback scheme...
Old Joke - but here it is again anyway:
97% of EVs are still on the road! That means 3% actually made it all the way home, lol.
The infrastructure bill also provided funds to double the capacity of the electric grid during the same period.
Lol—not!
I just read that it has been leaked that the 2035 Bidenskyyyyyymobiles won’t come with a FOB. You’re going to have to swipe one of your credit cards to get it to start.
Yep. More demand vs less supply puts more people on busses and trains as our air conditioners and refrigerators brown out. Green alternative power sources will be inadequate so the ultimate goal of currently unpopular nuclear energy will be the only alternative.
Most people are so dumb, they think electricity just magically appears from the wall socket. The EV industry fails to recognize that apartment dwellers can’t just drop extension cords out the window from 30 stories up. We’re surrounded by morons.
At my MIL’s condo there is a Tesla parked in the lot connected to a regular outlet on a light post. I just looked it up - takes 4 days for a complete charge. About 3 miles per charging hour. Although I guess parked overnight it would give them 30 miles or more - enough to commute back and forth perhaps.
I wonder what those numerous incomplete charges do to the battery?
The keys to the treasury have been given to lunatics.
Tesla is doing it right. They created an elegant charging device, and their charging stations always work. And they got most other EV brands to fall in line and adopt their charging standard, because non-Tesla pumps are failing everywhere. Tesla gets profits when non-Tesla cars use Tesla pumps. Tesla builds dozens of pumps at shopping malls, where people go and shop while charging.
Not only that, but Tesla is building entertainment centers around their pumps, beginning in Southern California with restaurants, stores and movie theaters, will open soon. The other EV makers are stupid, and failing.
Those poor suckers waiting to charge up battery crap
thats what happens when it costs a billion dollars to get Hunter and the Big Guy just to build ONE station....
They have to entertain these people while they wait for eons to charge up their crap so they can feel good about themselves for causing more pollution than we need before stupid battery cars came along.
