I was surprised (actually not that much given who made the statement!) that we, the taxpayers are supposed to foot the bill.
It is obvious who caused the accident - the shipping company. They should pay! They have insurance, capital, boats.
It may bankrupt them, and maybe then somebody - State of Maryland, City of Baltimore, maybe even federal government would have to chip in.
But the guilt is obvious and they must pay all they can.
I guess, Biden wanted to show how government can be helpful, or he is just senile, probably both.

48% DO they not understand percentages? Gas price now versus Jan 20, 2021 are double. That’s 100%.
They should pay the cost to cover the Key Bridge.
The Feds should design an updated bridge (suspension bridge like in SF or Chesapeake Bay) and cover the rest of the cost.
