Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge has been closed to traffic following an “incident,” the Maryland Transportation Authority saidI would say that is an understatement of Biblical proportions.

"It could be DEI."
At least they'll be able to tap into all those bridge building experts coming across the border in order to rebuild it.

Whoever was driving it has worse eyesight than I do and should honestly have their eyes removed and donated as they aren’t using them.

DEI shenanigans at the below linked organization or the ship didn’t have a harbor pilot on board? Who knows...

The link at post #2 would suggest it is not fake. I'm not seeing anything on the Baltimore TV stations or any other media sources. It's been over half an hour and there would be breaking stories on all the networks by now.

Let me guess,
Foreign crew, predominately Moslem, Indonesian ships master.
They could not drop an anchor after a failure put them so far out of the channel and slam the engines into reverse.
Did the pilot survive getting his throat slit?
When you are dealing with that much mass in motion things happen slow, but they are going to happen.

Curious that someone was filming this, starting before it happened, with a handheld video
Ship was probably moving slow, so there would be a lot of noise from the initial contact, well before the bridge came down
But the weather was good - clear, low wind, calm waters - and the ship had a huge gap under the bridge that they could have passed thru ... yet still hit the support ...

Whoever was driving it has worse eyesight than I do and should honestly have their eyes removed and donated as they aren’t using them. Yep. Hundreds of feet between the supports. You could drive 10 ships through there at the same time, and still miss the supports by a WIDE margin. I wonder if it was deliberate?

From the video, it looks like the ship was moving at a fairly high rate of speed. I am surprised that there didn’t appear to be large concrete piers surrounding the uprights. It is dark so hard to see, of course.
Prayers up for those on the bridge.

A report said workers were on the bridge, and the video shows numerous vehicles with flashing lights to the right of the ship.
It is bad enough to work on a road at night. I can’t imagine the disorientation when the road starts to give way. And one second later the panic realizing that whatever happened is really bad. And two seconds later in the water with steel girders landing on top of you.

Astonishing footage shows the moment the vessel plowed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, sending the colossal steel structure crashing into the Patapsco River, shortly before 1.30am Eastern. There were no immediate reports of any casualties and it is not clear if there was traffic on the bridge at the time of the catastrophe. The US Coast Guard and the Maryland Transportation Authority confirmed the crash but provided no further details. A livestream showed the disaster unfolding, with the vessel plowing into a pile holding up the central part of the bridge
