We're looking at a nor'easter tonight.

Very likely we will lose power. The winter storm warning is for heavy, mixed precip with a total of 6-10" of snow, sleet accumulations of up to an inch, and ice up to 2/10".

It starts around midnight tonight and is forecast for 100% precip through sunset tomorrow night. Then after the storm is over, the winds will increase with gusts up to 35 mph. Whatever the snow and ice don't bring down, the winds will.

There have been warnings up everywhere but people here are prepared. LOTS of generators running during many of these events.

We lose power rather easily so I fully expect to be without at some point during the storm for the duration. The blessing is that it is hitting on a weekend and at night.

Yep, it’s noy going to be fun. Global warming to lessen the
issues though. Yes, I am being sarcastic, but not really trying to be callous. 😋
<p.
Stay safe & hopefully you will be spared the outage.

All this climate stuff can be confusing to some folks. So I'll see if I can clear things up.

If global warming causes snowstorms... you might be a Democrat. :)

It’s about 84F with a slight breeze and intensely blue skies here in Arizona. Hope you all are safe.

Thanks. It’s been a fantastic winter so far but I had this nagging feeling that we were going to see one last try before the end of the month.

We’ll be fine. This is going to be worse than usual because of the icing and all, but otherwise, it’s not unexpected. We are all ready for it with all the food we need, a generator and plenty of gas, and propane to feed it as well, and a fantastic wood stove to boot.

One Thanksgiving some years back we visited my son and got in just as it was starting on Tuesday afternoon. We stayed the week and the power still wasn’t on when we left Sat morning. And whenever we went outside, all we could hear around us was generators running. People are so ready for it here. He had a coal stove at the time so we kept plenty warm. Cooked the Thanksgiving turkey out on the grill. It was VERY good.

When you look at homes for sale around here, many of them proudly include a picture of their generator panel for use when the power goes out. It’s very common to see that.

The most frustrating thing is losing the internet and FR withdrawal.

Currently 72 degrees here in Louisiana. Rained this morning, but it was for long, at least after I woke up just before 7 A.M. this morning.

But yes, hope they all dodge the bullet. 👍

“Very likely we will lose power.”

It used to be that way here in North Idaho. Then I bought a permanently installed emergency generator with an Automatic Transfer Switch. It’s all automatic.

Installed it 2-1/2 years ago. Guess how many outages we’ve had since then?

Not the same storm at all.

Yours is coming across the midwest. The nor’easter is coming up the coast and brings a LOT of moisture with it.

Lots of moisture = lots of snow.

Frankly, I would be shocked if we didn’t lost power.

There are LOTS of trees here in NH. The state loves its trees.

I don’t need to guess.

I know how it goes.

Well, it worked didn’t it? You have power.

South Jersey area where I live we are getting 3-4 inches of rain with 35 mph hour wind gusts. On the good side of this prediction, if it would have been snow It would be about 40 inches of snow with blizzard conditions. I’ll take the rain.

The only time it runs is for its monthly check runs. Not a single utility outage since we installed it. It’s just like washing your car to attract rain.
