Europe is a continent of pacifists – no amount of money can fix Nato. The region is neither militarily or politically prepared to uphold her treaty commitments
The Telegraph ^ | 3/15/24 | Edward Luttwak

An American withdrawal from the defense of Europe is undesirable for any involved nation – unless, of course, their capital city is Moscow – but it is obvious that the current incarnation of the US-Nato relationship cannot continue.

The debate over military spending in Europe and in the US shows no sign of resolution, in spite of very recent spending increases from a few European countries. A wide gap persists between the 3.5 per cent of GDP commitment of the US and the below 2 per cent average in Europe. While this disparity has long been an irritant, now there is a serious political challenge of a growing number of Congressional members who seek to force Europe to do her part by reducing US funding.

However, military spending is a very poor measure of each country’s actual contribution to the military strength of the alliance. One major distortion is the almost universal practice of purchasing weapons from local manufacturers regardless of their merits or their unit costs.

NATO is a dead alliance walking. The burial will only be two decades late.

“Europe is a continent of pacifists – no amount of money can fix Nato. The region is neither militarily or politically prepared to uphold her treaty commitments”

A simple and true statement.

When globohomo cements itself in over there, there will be an ungodly convergence of totalitarian maniacs ruling a de-individualized society. Plenty of potential for an imperial Islamo-communist war machine.

Get out now.

My offspring has NO BUSINESS whatsoever going to war for or funding the broke, useless, globo-socialist welfare cases known as NATO members.

I would laugh if Turkey got overrun, not send my children and money.

F NATO.

Not sure we’re capable either, certainly not in the long run if we continue the way we’re going.

Its worse than this.

NATO is the bodyguard for Davos, “Globohomo,” socialist, open-borders transformation of Europe and destruction of Western Culture.

Of course, the real threat to America, and the world, is Red China. But, let’s talk about bogeymen from Moscow. At least this way, NATO has some relevance.

The Muslims will support Turkey when they make their inevitable move to win Europe.

Imagine being in a Polish trench waiting for the Russian assault. You look in the trench on your left, a bunch of Frenchies, to your right, the Dutch. To your horror, you realize the person beside you is a pink pantie wearing transo.

It can be fairly argued that NATO was necessary up until 1960 or so. But certainly not now.

But I really don’t see it going away. The Europeans like to have someone else pick up their defense bill. And America’s leaders like to have their fingers in every pie. Gotta be involved everywhere.

So NATO will stay… until America’s inevitable financial collapse.

If you study the history of Western Europe, it is two millennia of end to end wars. The smoke barely clears from the last before the next one begins. One thing that can be learned from a study of the history of Europe is that nothing has been learned from it.

All the wars ever fought to rid Europe of the Saracen hordes
that attacked Europe for more than a century have been forgotten. Europe has learned nothing and Charles Martel is dead, “spinning in his grave.” Turkey, the “sick man of Europe” should not be a member of NATO, and is only there because of its geographic importance.
The Muslim hordes have returned, but this time Europe is too weak with no fortitude to resist. NATO will die and no more American blood will save it.

In even more brighter news reports, Russia wiped out a right wing nazi deployment area killing upwards of 300. Then more news leaking out on the Odesa attack that Ukraine's top senior commanders were killed in the missile attack. Zelensky is furious that it may have been a "double tap" too, just like Ukraine does to the citizens in Donbass.

This is true. The problem, is that Europe can’t stop screwing with other people and chest bumping Russia. It’s a bad combination. Like being at a bar with a woman who picks a fight with the bikers that walk down and wants you to step up to defend her on her.

It’s a haven of socialists.

Let them all suffer from their choices.

I don’t care, anymore. I’m sick of saving the world from itself. It can’t be done.

Only Christ can save them, and to care about Christ, they will apparently have to suffer a great, great amount more.

A nation of Christians saved them in WW I and WW 2.

Look what that got the world.

That was Ike’s take. I think it was vital until its whole reason for existence, the Warsaw Pact, disappeared thirty years ago.

My thinking, as well, Fungi.

By the way, we are having oyster, Hen of the Woods, Lion’s Mane, and Portobello mushrooms, in a great chicken bone broth, tonight, paired with a separate chicken dish.

Mushrooms breathe life into cells. You can practically feel it.

Europe is a continent of pacifists

No.

Europe will be at each other's throats the moment the US decides to leave them to their own devices.

Americans have learned to control their violent tendencies mostly. Europeans have not and once they get pushed by the people they hate most in the world, their neighbors, go guano crazy.
