Macron ‘panicked’ over leaked Ukraine reports – Marianne
The Press United ^ | March 13, 2024

Posted on 03/13/2024 12:05:58 PM PDT by Kazan

A series of classified documents has debunked Western narratives about Kiev’s battlefield prospects

French President Emmanuel Macron’s talk about maybe sending troops to aid Kiev may have been spurred by three assessments produced by the French military that painted a dire picture of the Ukraine conflict, according to the magazine Marianne.

The reports, which have somehow found their way into the weekly’s possession, argued that Ukraine wrecked its Western-trained force in the failed 2023 offensive, has run out of men to mobilize, and that its recent loss in Avdeevka shows it can’t even hold the line against Russia.

“Ukraine cannot win this war militarily,” concludes the first report, written in the fall of 2023, following Kiev’s disastrous ground offensive. It praises the Russian forces as the new “tactical and technical” standard of how to run defensive operations and debunks the media myth of “meat assaults.”

For the West to continue pursuing a military solution in Ukraine would be “the most serious error of analysis and judgment,” the classified document said, according to Marianne.

Sending French troops to Ukraine would be “unreasonable,” one senior officer wrote. “Make no mistake, up against the Russians we are an army of cheerleaders!” he added.

The second report, outlining the prospects for 2024, says that Kiev needs 35,000 men per month but is “recruiting less than half” of that number, while Russia enlists 30,000 volunteers monthly. Meanwhile, the 2023 offensive “tactically destroyed” half of Kiev’s 12 combat brigades.

“The West can provide 3D printers to manufacture drones or loitering munitions, but will never be able to print men,” the report said.

One solution it advised was sending Western troops to Ukraine to carry out support tasks in the rear, freeing the Ukrainians for frontline duty.

The second report also acknowledged the Western special forces and “soldiers in civilian clothes” had a far greater presence in Ukraine than officially acknowledged, including “quite a few British,” as well as French naval commandos training the Ukrainians.

The third and latest report, which had the French observers “in cold sweat,” described the Battle of Avdeevka as a possible “rout” of Ukrainian forces. It described how Russia created “hell” for the Ukrainian troops by using massive glide bombs to inflict more than 1,000 casualties per day. The French document also described the Ukrainian retreat on February 17 as “sudden and unprepared.”

At the end of February, Macron made an argument to NATO members that all options for helping Ukraine should be “on the table,” implying the possibility of sending ground troops. The idea was publicly repudiated by most members of the US-led bloc, however.

This article provides a link to the original French source.

...which is a fringy magazine that fails to show any of the supposed actual reports themselves as proof...and expects readers to just take its word that they exist. Riggggght....

Do you have evidence this is false information?

So you want me to prove a negative? That onus is on you and the OP. So where are those reports?

I guess we've forgotten that Timber Rattler is well-known for posting Ukrainian propaganda, and never retracting it when it turns out to be a fabrication...

I've not found the actual "leaked documents" this article relies on - but I will address at least one claim in the article -

They supposedly debunked the "meat grinder" warfare - yet that is exactly what Russia has pursued: 1 - Their WW2 warfare form is to literally level towns and cities - whether or not they are holding Ukrainian military or not - they just flatten cities - civilians and all.

2 - Avidvka saw between 500 -1000 Russians lost on the battlefield nearly every day of the several-month-long effort by Russia to take it. This isnt' "Western opinion" - it's well (and easily-documented) reality.

Russia doesn't care that it is churning soldiers (many of which are not particularly well-trained) like chum. You throw enough bodies at something, you eventually wear down those trying to defend a city. Between the growing scarcity of ammunition (and to a lesser degree, weapons systems) and Russia's seemingly endless meat supply (between their own mass mobilizations as well as multiple mercenary units...

All of this - yet I do agree - the idea of a Ukrainian military victory seems like a rather fleeting idea. Russia has 75+ years of military hardware stored for such a time as this (they simply don't every get rid of weapons or ammunition - unlike the West that insists on constant upgrade/replacement and disposing of the "old"). you show enough 1950-1960's era tanks and artillery into the mix - it still gets the job done when in overwhelming numbers.

Yeah, a fringe magazine, but Russia Today is the outlet spreading it all over the place. Note the tags and sourcing at the bottom of the 'Press United' article posted here.

Have you ever disavowed your "Russian missile turns Ukrainian market into fiery, blackened ruin strewn with bodies" post, which turned out to be false?

Nope.

Everything that Regime War Supporters and Glowies have claimed about this war has turned out to be fake / wrong !

We have finally disposed of the claim that Western/NATO troops are not operating equipment in Ukraine (via the German Military phone call leak)

And now people like you say “there is no evidence” that the French Military has done an obvious analysis of the situation on the ground ...

Many folks including myself have been saying this since the start of the conflict. Russia was ALWAYS going to win this war, no matter what the West contrived.
US funding is not about this conflict, it’s about something else that no politician will talk about.
Eventually the truth will out and we’ll find out the true purpose of all the money sent to Ukraine.
Nobody is saying this, but the money is being gifted, not loaned. We’ll never get that money back, and we’re borrowing this money from Communist China. It will have to be paid back by future generations of Americans, children not yet born.
This is insanity, especially since everybody knows that Russia is going to prevail in the end.
This is not about Vladimir Putin. Any Russian leader would do exactly what he’s doing, regardless of the ‘feelings’ of Western liberal elites.

I didn’t vouch for the veracity of the report, nor did I insist it was true.

Yet you cast aspersions on the sourcing and never provide a shred of evidence it’s not true.

In other words, you’re just spewing bullsh!t.

Which is to be expected from a chickenhawk.

Putin can stop it right now by stopping all attacks against Ukraine and pulling all his troops back into Russia.
