Prayers for all touched by this accident.
Where in Illinois?
Rushville
Rural Illinois.
Rushville. It’s north of St. Louis, about 2-1/4 hours driving time, @ the intersection of US 67 and US 24.
Kids as young as 3 killed. :-(
RIP and Prayers like you stated.
Just a couple of guesses. It was a medical emergency or the bus driver lost control trying to avoid something in her traffic lane.
Kids at 3 belong home with mom.
When I was a kid, on trips passing through IL, we passed through Rushville quite a few times. I recall little but fields and being glad to get to the gas station to pee!
Yeah, I consider a 3-year-old a toddler. Should not be away from mom or her close designate.
Yeah, both drivers* killed, so it might take time to sort this one out.
*Per the report. 2 drivers? A driver and an alternate or monitor?
The youngest kids are always put in the front seats on the busses from the school I taught in Pre-K, K,1st,2nd,3rd.
Agreed. Shaking my head at that one.
In GA 18 yos can drive school buses. Yikes! If there aren’t laws against bus drivers over 65 yo, there should be imo.
On Yahoo news it said the bus for some reason swerved to the left side of the road and hit the truck. Then there was a fire.
I can’t imagine losing a child like that.
The driver of the bus and the driver of the semi.
Three year olds who have a disability of some type are eligible for preschool where they can get occupational, physical or other types of therapy.
If the child is less than three states have in home based early intervention. When they turn three the county schools take over the job.
For instance my oldest went to a school where they had a program for deaf children. She wasn’t deaf but you’d see the kids at the school. Other schools specialized in blindness, paralyzed, etc.
I guess so. The semi looked so much less damaged (although the trailer full of sand flipped onto its side) that I assumed all the fatalities were on bus. Probably a bad assumption.
Looking again, the semi cab looks like it may have been seared by the fire even if it itself didn’t catch fire. If trapped... I’d sure much rather die in the impact. :-(
