Pittsburgh’s Bureau of Police is responding to staffing shortages by foregoing any officer presence in dispatch offices 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. daily.
The Daily Mail reported that the cut was announced last month by Pittsburgh police chief Larry Scirotto, who noted, “Data said that from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m that we had 8% of our call volume, yet we had 33% of our personnel working during those periods of time.”
Scirotto’s decision comes as the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police has dwindled to just 740 officers.
In late February, Breitbart News pointed out Scirotto also made clear officers would not be responding to 911 calls that are not reporting in-progress emergencies, regardless of the time of day the calls came in.

Don’t blame Pittsburgh that no one wants to be a cop
Blame Obama, Holder, the corrupt politicized DOJ and their BLM brown-shirts.
If so, then the question becomes: are they also at home between 3 AM and 7 AM?
Yeah, I went there.
It must be written in Democrat play book that when ever their is a budget shortfall to cut fire and police first, then road maintenance, then close public parks and well you get the picture. They never cut the bureaucracy.
There are only and handful of US cities worth visiting anymore.
It’s just civilizational decline, not just a Pittsburgh problem.
I feel like I’m seeing more and more people being pulled over these by Highway Patrol and Local LEO.
My sense is that they need to stay busy and through traffic enforcement they can raise revenue, while ignoring crime and policing the community.
Heck, I’ve got one that sits in the school parking lot across from the house for 30-60 minutes then spends another hour going back and forth up and down the street.
Hopefully, Pittsburgh can dispatch social workers during these hours.

911 is a joke.
It will be open season for vigilantes since they now know there will be no response from police during that time frame. If you want to create havoc in your city, just keep up this malarkey. I’m waiting for the cops in my city to do this. It will be uncivil war.
