On Friday’s broadcast of Bloomberg’s “Balance of Power,” White House Council of Economic Advisers member Heather Boushey responded to a question on whether the higher corporate taxes pushed by President Joe Biden will harm hiring by saying that “We need to make sure that the federal government has the resources that it needs to be able to do the things that it needs to do.” And that”businesses have a lot of resources, we’ve also given them a lot of subsidies and supports to go out there and invest.”
Co-host Joe Mathieu asked, [relevant exchange begins around 7:15] “[H]e talked about the need for higher taxes on the wealthy and on corporations, specific to the idea of a higher corporate tax rate, which I know is something that he has been pushing for some time and we have some movement there, I just wonder, what impact that might have on hiring, if any at all? Is that something that you’re able to model?”

Then cut down on the subsidies to save money and tax citizens less. It is not complicated. Our garbage ruling class just wants their beak in every pie.
As in:
We’ll take it from you and then give back what we think you need.
Sounds sorta communistic.
Government can give you nothing it does not first take away.
A PERFECT REASON WHY TRUMP -—A REAL BUSINESSMAN-—NEEDS TO BE PRESIDENT.
DEMS JUST KEEP SHUFFLING PROBLEMS AROUND THE CHESS BOARD.
“IF THEY GIVE BUSINESSES SUBSIDIES-—THEY CAN TAX THEM MORE”????????????????????
BIDEN ADMIN==== MENTAL PERVERTS LOOSE IN THE POPULATION
Was she born that stupid or did she have to train for it?
You know this administration is lying when they never......and I mean NEVER take responsibility for ANYTHING negative they are responsible for.
For the umpteenth time: Corporations do not pay taxes. Their customers pay those taxes, it’s built into the cost of their products and services. It’s a line item on their income statement.
Heather is an acolyte of Wesley Mouch.
For those unaware, subsidies in Government’s view is their money. Because what the government can create “money” the government can taketh away.
And gotten a lot of kickbacks in return no doubt.
True. I hope Trump and other Republicans will talk about this in the upcoming campaign.
I remember Ronald Reagan had said this as well.
And what is never talked about is that many businesses operate on narrow profit margins. Increasing the cost of doing business will result in higher prices to be charged for whatever goods and services a business provides.
Unlike the federal government, businesses cannot absorb operating losses indefinitely.
Circular logic in need of a circular firing squad.
Absolutely true. I have run my own softeare development company for 30 years. I have a detailed spreadsheet to calculate my prices and taxes are part of it.
Each American is a dollar battery as far as gubmint sees it.
Yeah, the gov't invests in what IT wants, not the American people. Solindra comes to mind. How about cutting taxes on ALL business and let the market determine which businesses need to expand to meet US consumer demand.
In order to get the subsidies then the business has to do exactly what the government wants. This forces business’s to do evil things.
Where is my free bubbleup and rainbow stew?
I’ve gotten nothing, zilch, and did not expect it ,,,,
Must be the wrong flavor of favors, not denizen
They don’t even realize the problem is unethical spending in D.C. and that the goal should NOT be to ‘maximize’ federal revenue. They always believe they have a right to more.
Subsidies almost without exception go to companies that are first Large and Second have the resources necessary to get them, namely lawyers and lobbyist.
Where does this money come from to give out subsidies?
It comes from taxing others; individuals and other possibly the very competitors of the company getting the subsidies.
Taxes and subsidies pervert and harm the economy.
These practices are Fascistic.
