“I only have anecdotal evidence but of the many Swedes I’ve known there were some closeted Nazis. I bet helping out the Azov scum is high on some recruits’ lists.”

Sweden’s behavior during World War 2 fits in PERFECTLY with them helping the Azov’s (Ukrainian Nazis).

Is the leadership trying to distract their populations from problems they created?

Yes.

“I oppose the leftist gay/transgender agenda, but I’m not stupid or crazy enough to think that means Russia and China should rule the world.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>

The American GINSCA-people would let Russia invade it.
That’s how sad all this has become.

You fully support Degenerate Globalist control, Homosexual control, Transsexual control, Pedophile control, and Nazi control of the Worlds Population for THEIR purposes.

You are sick in the head, and the Soul.

“A big problem is interoperability and unified command. For instance, if they were not NATO members they could not use NATO IFF, and the difficulty of sorting out Swedish and Russian planes in the event of war could be a real problem.”

Sweden became a NATO Enhanced Opportunities Partner in 2014 and has had access to NATO IFF and interoperability (combined arms capabilities) with NATO forces ever since.

Other Enhanced Opportunities Partners (EOP) were/are Finland (2014), Georgia (2014), Jordan (2014), Australia (2014), and Ukraine (2020).

Countries currently exploring EOP status with NATO include Austria, Switzerland, Israel, South Korea, and Japan.

NATO == The suicide club.

Surprisingly, I had not thought of NATO in that manner, thanks for the wake up call.

“Something is up with European leadership and Russia may not have anything to do with it.”

Russia of course has everything to do with it. After hundreds of years Sweden abandoned neutrality because they realized that there is no clear limit to the territorial appetite of Putin and other Russians who think like him.

Putin apologists try to change the subject to gay rights and transsexualism, but the Finns and Swedes, whose lives are at risk, aren’t buying that argument.

The war in Ukraine is over two years old and the lines have changed little.

My point is why the sudden rush to gear up for a war after two years?

If Russia was going to attack NATO it could obviously set off a nuclear conflict nobody would win.

There has to be something else in play besides a strip of land in Eastern Ukraine.

Could it be Iran? Maybe.

I just don’t know what it is.

You have to wonder why the French President, among others, is talking about intervention in the Russian-Ukrainian War. There would be no talk of intervention unless NATO is concerned that Ukraine will lose at some point. After two years, the war has settled into a small scale version of World War I style trench warfare. But if Russia is wearing down Ukraine to the point that it could collapse, as Germany collapsed in the fall of 1918, NATO may believe intervention is necessary to prevent Ukraine as well as possibly Moldova to fall under Russian influence and control.

Then we need to ask what NATO's strategy is. Surely they are not as foolish as to think that they would succeed where Charles XII, Napoleon, and Hitler failed. It is possible that as in the Crimean War, when France, the Ottoman Empire, Britain, and Sardinia (the core of modern Italy) united to stop Russian expansion, the NATO powers believe that a limited war can be successfully waged against Russia. On paper, it would appear to be a mismatch. All of Europe, except for Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, and Serbia, and the two North American nations are faced against Russia, which only has Belarus as an ally.

Even if both sides refrain from using nuclear weapons, I must wonder if the imbalance is as much of a slam dunk as it appears on paper. It is possible that Russia is pulling its punches in Ukraine and would go all out against a NATO attack. The United States is above all the world's greatest naval power. But as the Ukrainians and the Houthis have shown, warships are more vulnerable than at any time since Roman Empire days. It is also possible that China and North Korea would use American preoccupation in Eastern Europe to make mischief in the Far East. Turkey may switch sides in order to expand its Near East position in conjunction with Iran to dominate the area and eliminate Israel.

Lots of people like us in the USA don’t want to pay taxes to defend Europe, and the Europeans seem to have finally gotten that message. Trump deserves a lot of the credit for that.

I never said anything about it but your take on Turkey is correct.

They were always kind of a misfit in NATO except during the USSR they could be seen as yet another religious nation resisting godless communism.

They do want a pan-Turkish union with their relatives in central Asia.

My guess is it would be similar to the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, functionally a type of multinational empire.

They bring the 3fs to NATO. Fish, furniture, and fjords.

But we’ll always welcome their Bikini Team.

Actually, there are a lot of Plusses from Swedes, some of them featuring their women.

Why they didn't hold on to those and reinforce them does not make sense to me.

What I’ve read is that the Swedes have a deep almost suicidal guilt over collaborating with the Nazis.

"Why is the West so intent on committing suicide?"
There is a much discredited plan, named after the writings of Austrian-Japanese politician Richard von Coudenhove-Kalergi, creator of the Paneuropean Union and much beloved by the United Nations, that explains a lot. But the "Kalergi Plan" is much pooh-poohed in the press. In fact its name isn't even allowed to be mentioned (at least by me) in comments in the Daily Mail.
