Sen. Katie Britt's, R-Ala., official Republican response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address Thursday night turned heads — but not for any of the right reasons.
The freshman senator's high-profile rebuttal was stern in its focus on immigration and the state of the economy — two key sticking points against the president — but had a bizarre delivery, according to The Daily Beast. Its dramatic cadence and beige-toned kitchen backdrop left political operatives and observers unsure of what to make of it.
Britt's performance was so unnerving that some Republicans watched "with a grimace," the Daily Beast reports. A GOP strategist even told the outlet that gossip about Britt's delivery quickly circulated among operatives connected to Donald Trump, which could have an impact on her consideration as his running mate.

A measured and reasonable response
Seems to be a concerted effort on the web to cover for Brandon by gaslighting us on Britt.
And so we have to shout back at the American people like he did?
according to The Daily Beast.
No worries.
I understand.
We can agree to disagree.
Thanks.
Should have gone with John Kennedy. Genial humor is the right contrast to Biden’s ranting old man persona.
I have never understood who picks the GOP person to counter a Dim POTUS state of the union speach.
The delivery reminded me of the time in 2008 when Fred Thomson ran for the GOP presidential nomination. It had a sense of over acting.
The same thing when Tom Selleck gives those reverse mortgage commercials.
The Katie Britt response was NOT atrocious but you could tell she was nervous. Someone like Kari Lake (who was a professional tv news anchor) could have coached Katie about the nuances of public speaking. On a score of 1 to 10, I give it a 6.
David Webb was all over Solon’s rebuttal this morning’s Sirus Xm show. He was not happy. Paraphrasing — Once again, the GOP shows its incompetence.
I thought Sarah Sanders was excellent, compared with Britt.
I wouldn’t call seeming on the edge of tears ‘calm’.
I’m sure she’s a nice, Conservative lady; but she wasn’t at all seasoned enough to take on a job like this.
A David Lynch movie...LIke MUHOLLAND DRIVE? The movie was confusing...
THE STRAIGHT STORY was okay...
A little smirking at inappropriate times also. Like she couldn’t control the narcissist inside. Well, I guess all these politicians have that. She just needs to hide it better. I don’t know anything about her. I’m just commenting on the delivery.
She hit her target. It wasn’t Freeper Males. The target was moms.
She’s 42 ... Theodore Roosevelt was elected President when he was 42. It’s a little late to go to the debate club. Agree she can improve with work but its not an age thing.
Think of what TR had done by age 42.
These days we have neoteny.

This is just it.
Her speech may have been targeted toward ‘moms’, but a lot of those moms are actually mature women. If I were an undecided ‘soccer mom’, I’d find Britt’s affect a little insulting.
Britt covered most of he bases and sent a message to younger voters that might resonate to Trump's advantage. Whether or not she pleased the entire MAGA base is of no concern to me.
Some here at FR still prefer style over substance and it’s showing in this thread.
I have secondary embarrassment for these people mocking her. They probably subscribe to People Magazine.
