Colorado has launched a criminal probe into its star forensic analyst Yvonne 'Missy' Woods after 'anomalies' were found in her DNA testing work.

Woods, 60, is under investigation for allegedly performing shoddy DNA testing and altering data. Her work and testimonies have sent hundreds of people to jail over her three-decade career - and now thousands of cases may have to be reopened.

She has worked in her trade for 29 years, and was considered the state's 'gold standard' by colleagues for helping to put infamous murderers behind bars. The shocking discovery was made in November, when the Colorado Bureau of Investigation performed an internal review and found that some of her crucial data was altered or missing. Woods, 60, abruptly resigned.

Police and prosecutors had been relying on the skilled criminal scientist's DNA work. The new scandal surrounding Woods has rocked Colorado and is being considered one of the largest improprieties in the history of forensic DNA testing, experts say.

Another example of "science" that has the power to ruin lives that is increasingly relied on in our judicial system. How do we make sure these tools are use properly and oversee those trusted to use them?

What about those murderers released by her sheddy DNA testing after she “proved” they were innocent. That train goes both ways. I always suspected that most murderers were found “innocent” by “DNA testing” and released.

Just a guess - is she a statist, woke Democrat all for “the latest thing?”

Good point. Scietific tools should be applied fairly and without bias. We really saw how this was tossed to the wind during Covid but in fact it seems to go back much further. Add in all the academic cheating and plagarism, much of which was done on research that these techniques are based on and you have no idea who and what to trust.

...found that some of her crucial data was altered or missing

They've borrowed the same kind of 'science' that climate-change 'scientists' and democrats and liberal media use to make their claims about climate-change.

"...have sent hundreds of people to jail..."

Well...they were probably guilty of something anyway.

Working that way, we'd probably end up with 90% of the population in jail/prison or ostracized from the general population.

I’ll bet that’s just what she was thinking, “I can’t let this guy get off” or “I’m sure he did it even if the DNA evidence isn’t there”. As flawed as our jury system may be at times, I’m going to trust it over the opinoin of some broad who looks like Nikki and probably has the ethics of Fauci.

I will bet she is a man hater who thinks all men are guilty of something and deserve to be in prison.

I have dealt with horrible evil women like this. Usually in HR departments.

I think we should wait for some more results to come in.
If she did wrong, then the system can chew her up.
But let’s not jump on Missy before the time.
Okay?

Cops lie, prosecutors lie, all agents of the state lie. Why wouldn’t they? Their morality is the state, their god is the state and when was the last time an agent of the state went to jail for perjury?

Perhaps, perhaps not. Let's wait until the evidence comes in.

This article didn't state what has caused this issue to surface after 29 years of accepting her work as the gold standard, at least that I saw. All it seemed to talk about were some of the cases she was involved in.

However, I assume this will affect cases far beyond just her cases, because the whole DNA tool may come under question as to its actual reliability.

“Colorado launches criminal probe into its star forensic analyst Yvonne ‘Missy’ Woods who ‘performed shoddy DNA testing and altered data that sent HUNDREDS of people to jail over her three-decade career”

This is devastatingly huge. Past testing has to be retested. Everything she’s ever done in a lab regarding forensics. Wow.

DNA evidence alone is usually not the reason jurors reach a guilty verdict. I suppose the quality of other evidence and independently supported facts presented to the jury play a role even when there is no or disputable DNA evidence.
