Republican Alabama Sen. Katie Britt pulled no punches as she delivered her party's rebuttal to President Biden's State of the Union address Thursday night, ripping him for his "despicable" job handling the border crisis, as well as his promotion of "Bidenomics" amid the rising consumer costs plaguing American families.
A rising star within the GOP, the 42-year-old Britt's selection to deliver the rebuttal last week was met with widespread praise — even from some Democrats — as she continues to build a national profile despite never holding elected office prior to her election in the 2022 midterms.
Britt began her remarks with a reference to Biden's age and his decades as a career politician, blasting his speech as "the performance of a permanent politician who has actually been in office for longer than I've been alive."
"The country we know and love seems to be slipping away, and it feels like the next generation will have fewer opportunities – and less freedoms – than we did. I worry my own children may not even get a shot at living their American Dreams," Britt said.
"The American Dream has turned into a nightmare for so many families. The true, unvarnished State of our Union begins and ends with this: Our families are hurting. Our country can do better," she said.
Britt then sought to pick apart Biden's policies, starting with the ongoing crisis at the southern border that's seen a historic number of migrants cross into the U.S. She specifically called out his diversion from former President Donald Trump's border policies.
"President Biden inherited the most secure border of all-time. But minutes after taking office, he suspended all deportations, halted construction of the border wall, and announced a plan to give amnesty to millions...

> Like I said, we at FR are NOT the target audience.
I’m not sure who it was for. My liberal female cousin on Facebook was making fun of the speech with all her dirtbag liberal friends chiming in with LOLs about the quavery voice.
Nobody likes a sniveller. They needed a strong woman making the speech, not a shrinking violet.
I sure hope Lara Trump turns the RNC around because dang it seems like they don’t know what they’re doing.
She sounded like one of those ASPCA ads.
Sally Struthers and Sarah Maclaughlin, all in one.
SNL will have a field day.
I made the same comment, earlier, on another thread.
This did not do our side any favors.
Clay and Buck thought Trump should have delivered the GOP reply.
Good article—it looks like we do have some professionals on our side—and they know what they saw.
Saturday Night Live is much lower quality than it used to be—but she really teed it up for them.
Clips of her speech are seriously viral. And not in a good way.
Who the heck let her, or told her to, do that??? She’s a freshman Senator, and looks about 17. So she was definitely assigned a team to prep her.
Who sabotaged the team??? Who led it??? Pence? Romney? Pelosi???
All great questions—there is no way she was this bad running for U.S. Senate—or folks from Alabama would have warned us.
Wow. I completely disagree. Thought she was a drama queen extraordinaire. So lame. SHS was strong. Not even close.
I thought she was going to cry...
I like her, this election could/will be decided on the suburban soccer moms and believe me, I know a lot of them. And quite a few I know including my own Aunt buy right into the MSM portrayal of Trump.
Trump needs EVERY advantage he can possibly get because NOTHING has been done about election integrity. I don’t care if the polls say he’s 20 points ahead, he could get 100 million votes and they’ll give Biden 105 million and if you protest you get thrown in the DC gulag.
Yes, I watched the replay and her voice just grates on me. Too sweetie sweetie most of the time.
I’m not sure how she was supposed to make me despise the Biden gang any more than I already do.
I didn’t know women find a mangled delivery appealing.
I bet a few women asked themselves “is she ok?”
“All great questions—there is no way she was this bad running for U.S. Senate—or folks from Alabama would have warned us.”
She had slick advertisements.
Her campaign benefitted from a Austin Texas based, liberal dark money funded shadow PAC that viciously attacked her opponents.
And her husband played for Alabama.
That’s how she won.
I TOTALLY AGREE.
I cannot believe how badly women who have been given some authority and influence behaved.’
In the world of working females, I always envisioned women with intelligence who would approach authority withe common sense.
That didn’t happen.
Back to the drawing board.
They seemed not to have what it takes to be good bosses, good leaders, good influencers...
I am quite disappointed in my GENDER’S success.
“You’re not wrong. Libs on social media have spliced her video with the Sarah Mclaughlin song “Arms of the Angel””
I wonder when we will get our free tshirts, wrist bands, and photo of a rescued animal?
I was digging around the net for more information from people who knew her.
Apparently she is a classic sociopath—”kiss up kick down”.
She treated subordinates and average folks who dealt with her very badly when she was an attorney.
It looks like we dodged a bullet here.
Not to mention the MILLIONS poured in, to her campaign, from Midge McConnell’s WAR chest.
What bullet did we dodge?
Just curious. TIA!!
