Republican Alabama Sen. Katie Britt pulled no punches as she delivered her party's rebuttal to President Biden's State of the Union address Thursday night, ripping him for his "despicable" job handling the border crisis, as well as his promotion of "Bidenomics" amid the rising consumer costs plaguing American families.
A rising star within the GOP, the 42-year-old Britt's selection to deliver the rebuttal last week was met with widespread praise — even from some Democrats — as she continues to build a national profile despite never holding elected office prior to her election in the 2022 midterms.
Britt began her remarks with a reference to Biden's age and his decades as a career politician, blasting his speech as "the performance of a permanent politician who has actually been in office for longer than I've been alive."
"The country we know and love seems to be slipping away, and it feels like the next generation will have fewer opportunities – and less freedoms – than we did. I worry my own children may not even get a shot at living their American Dreams," Britt said.
"The American Dream has turned into a nightmare for so many families. The true, unvarnished State of our Union begins and ends with this: Our families are hurting. Our country can do better," she said.
Britt then sought to pick apart Biden's policies, starting with the ongoing crisis at the southern border that's seen a historic number of migrants cross into the U.S. She specifically called out his diversion from former President Donald Trump's border policies.
"President Biden inherited the most secure border of all-time. But minutes after taking office, he suspended all deportations, halted construction of the border wall, and announced a plan to give amnesty to millions...

Just like Nikki used to be called here on FR, just like Ann Coulter and Arianna Huffington.
Females are simply too equivocal for positions of power. They generally belong in their homes where God made them to be, taking care of their families and where they are the happiest.
lol. bs meter pegged.
At first glance I thought she was a tiny thing, until I looked up her husband and learned he is 6’8” and 320 lbs. She’s a normal sized woman, he is just huge.
I want to see a lib try and mess with her. Especially if her husband is around.
Thanks for the link.
I do not like her. Comes off like a former sorority princess who is now a soccer mom, but way too emotional.
Don’t like.
too cutsie for me too, but like others said, she was most likely picked to appeal to women voters ...
I like Mary Poppins.
I liked Katie Britt too.
I want every vote we can get. Talking heads on TV say Suburban, college educated Moms are a “problem” for Republicans. They are not a problem. They are heroes (because they, among others, raise our children) and voters. I want our speakers to talk to them.
If Katie Britt can talk to them with sympathy and good sense then I want everything she can give.
> Really? In listened to it and it was another Bobby Jindall moment. Why did they pick her for the rebuttal? Who picked her? If I hear the RNC or Ronna McRomeny has anything to do with this I’ll be livid!!! They should have picked Kari Lake or the woman that shredded Lez Cheney in Wyoming Harriet Hageman
I don’t like that she sounded like she was on the verge of tears the whole time. We’re the party of facts and strength. This lady may be very nice, and her speechwriter was good, but her delivery just didn’t meet the moment.
>>...we at FR are NOT the target audience...
>What you just said is so true, but it’s amazing how many FReepers have not caught onto that fact.
I’m a woman and let me tell you that singsong verge-of-tears way of speaking is annoying as all get-out. I liked what she said, but... it projected weakness.
> She sounded like one of those ASPCA ads.
You’re not wrong. Libs on social media have spliced her video with the Sarah Mclaughlin song “Arms of the Angel”
Like I said, we at FR are NOT the target audience.
I think I see the problem here.
The speech coaches were afraid of her husband.
Lol.
Probably so
Biden caught flack for saying Laken Rikey was killed by an illegal person.
Right after that he said “what about the thousands killed by LEGALS!”
Yes, he was making the point that American citizens murder THOUSANDS MORE than illegal insurgent criminal aliens murder❗️
Such a BIG LIE!
BUT...He was quoted, by Trace Gallager, as again saying illegals!
I was gobsmacked!
I watched it several times, but I haven’t seen Fox or ANY MEDIA quoting Biden correctly using Ms Riley’s murder to let illegals off the hook and make it seem like Americans are the most prolific criminals
They are talking about it on the Five right now and NO ONE corrected the misquote.
Illegals kill hundreds and gang rape THOUSANDS!
Not legal Citizens
I expected at least Gutfeld to catch it.
It’s a GIANT POINT that should be made
But only here at FR.
VIRTUALLY all girls and women invaders are raped, many in the USA
Cartels have small rape rooms on THIS side of the border.
Too horrible to describe here on FR!
Yes, gang rape of 12 year-olds!
Lauren Boebert is usually fiery. But maybe too long of a speech for her. I don't know her well enough.
That speech was awful. And creepy. It’s being savaged, by conservatives. Breitbart has a prominent post on it.
Whoever coached her needs to be exiled.
> Like I said, we at FR are NOT the target audience.
I’m not sure who it was for. My liberal female cousin on Facebook was making fun of the speech with all her dirtbag liberal friends chiming in with LOLs about the quavery voice.
Nobody likes a sniveller. They needed a strong woman making the speech, not a shrinking violet.
I sure hope Lara Trump turns the RNC around because dang it seems like they don’t know what they’re doing.
“She did well, very well.”
No, she didn’t. Creepy-cringe. SNL will have a field day.

In some ways, the British were more civilized in 1807 because they had no tolerance for slave trade.
But today, we are ignoring human smuggling which is modern day slavery by ignoring the border.
Who decided to have her speak? We are at war, not at a Tupperware luncheon.
Enough of this BS already.
