It’s official: After dipping their toes into the working world and spending a handful of years on the job, Gen Zers are already over the traditional nine-to-five grind.
You may remember that TikTok video of a young woman crying over her “crazy” nine-to-five schedule—described as “Gen Z girl finds out what a real job is like”—which went viral last year.

I used to be able to do the entire movie from beginning to end. I’ve seen it over 1,000 times.
Youth well spent...
:)
My pleasure.
I didn’t think of that. You definitely are right.
Folks from India and China will be more than happy to take those jobs.
9 to 5 is a part time job and did you know that Girls work 40 hours a week???
I leave my house at 4am and come home at 5pm-6pm, but I am also one of those greedy business owners with a high income due to my inherent white privilege of being ready, willing and able to work 80 hours a week for the last 40 years.
The thing is, in your 20s is when you should be making money and setting it aside, and let the “Eighth Wonder Of The World”, Compound Interest, start working for you. It will make a huge difference in wealth by the time you’re in your 50s, compared to someone who only starts saving in their 30s or 40s.
Great! Just 10 years to go ! lol
Evertime marginal tax rates are cut tax revenue INCREASES. Fact.
you sound like a liberal.
EVERYONE needs a tax cut that pays taxes. Those that pay no taxes or negative taxes need to end up at 0 or above.
Delusional:
Since WWII-
The govt has collected between 15-25% of the GDP regardless of tax scheme. That includes nominal 90% rates for the wealthy at one time.
The US has the most progressive tax code in first world history.
60% of filers pay no zero tax.
The tax cuts for the wealthy have them paying more of the whole than ever.
One has to be deluded to buy into the armies of regulators and libraries of largely unaccountable bs is anything but the corps using the govt to inhibit competition.
Maybe next time instead eight federal regulating agencies and state banking regulators failing to oversee all of six crucial national banks in 2008-12 Fed agencies and multiple state regulators will get the job done.
Material reserved for dim bulb Democrats, beyond delusional.
It’s universal.
Slot machines average about 10% for the house.
They could crank them up to 40% in ten seconds if they thought that it would result in one more penny of profit.
I’ve recently handed off hiring to my younger partners, but something we started hearing over the past few years was “work-life balance is important to me”. I really didn’t know what to make of that in the context of an engineering or architecture position requiring at minimum a BS degree, while accumulating the experience needed to pass a rigorous series of state level registration exams.
We finally agreed that we would just end the interview if the candidate brought that up.
Turns out there are, in fact, plenty of ambitious Gen Z kids out there who don’t want to hang out with their whiny entitled slacker classmates. Recruitment, retention, and reported job satisfaction are all up since we figured that part out. And guys and gals, still in their 20’s we hired a couple of years ago are starting to buy their first houses, while their “work life balance” friends are still living in crummy apartments or their mom’s basements. Funny how that works.
I suggest that Gen Zers all work at Starbucks. Five of them get a house. Pay the mortgage of $3,000 per month. They split $600 each. They can make lattes and live an easy life. Why not?
So glad I wasn’t subjected to the 9-5 corporate world. I would have never made it. I like my freedom and independence way too much to sell my life away to some fat corp who will dump you in a fast minute for whatever reason.
THAT is worth waiting for...
.
Yep, I worked 5-9 six days a week, selling computer systems, owned a leasing company, a software development company and a bar/ restaurant/hotel complex.
I'm not complaining, life was/is good because I always knew that God was the reason that I am Blessed.
I feel sorry for today's snowflakes that whine about an 8 hour day. Poor babies.
Exactly!
Yeah....just think of all of the poor folks, who had their ‘souls sucked’ away, over the past 100+ years.
So devastating that we must rewrite history.
