The recent death of American shipping magnate Angela Chao, the sister-in-law of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, is now a "criminal investigation," according to the Texas sheriff's office investigating matter.
Chao, the CEO of the Foremost Group was found dead shortly after midnight on Feb. 11 when pulled from a car that had gone into a pond on a private ranch about 40 miles from the Texas city of Austin, CNBC reported Thursday.
“This incident was not a typical accident,” the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office told state Attorney General Ken Paxton in a letter. “Although the preliminary investigation indicated this was an unfortunate accident, the Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this accident as a criminal matter until they have sufficient evidence to rule out criminal activity."
As a result in the change of status in the case, investigators and state prosecutors reportedly intend to withhold further release of related reports, 911 logs, audio and video evidence and other related material.

Thanks for digging that up... there is some useful information there but lots of blanks and links that don’t work too. I saw the info about the legal acreage being 269.4. The property is likely made up of several parcels that were pieced together. A quick distance check shows that just from the main gate into the property on Schneider Lane to north most point of the airstrip is over 2 1/2 miles (direct line measurement). No doubt the property is irregular in shape but just that measurement alone suggests the overall property is over 1,000 acres.... and it might be much more depending on how far north it goes.

I had not heard that before that she was there alone... where did you get that information from? Since emergency services were there within say 10 minutes of the call, that would seem to suggest that Angela Chao made the call to them herself if no one else was there. None of that has been disclosed as far as I’m aware.
Kyle Bass is the one who said on X shortly after her death that the car went violently backwards into the pond and that it was on video. What he did not say was how he was privy to that information but regardless, it doesn’t sound possible he would know anything unless there was someone on the property who witnessed it and disclosed that information.
Nobody else has been named as being present at the time of the accident. No information has been forthcoming as to what time her vehicle was discovered in the pond, or who reported it. Nor has any time been given as to when she left the property she was visiting, and no speculation at to the time her car had gone into the pond. Rescue crews were at the scene, and recorded pulling her from the vehicle at 12:56 a.m. It has been reported that she drown from being submerged.
It was reported that she was in a remote area of the property, which which is part of a ranch "owned by a corporation connected to her husband, Jim Breyer." No reason has been given why she was even there at that time, or whatever time she first arrived at the property, or left. I doubt she'd have been on the property without having visited the house that is there. And no word who she met with at the home, or if anyone else was even there.
The whole thing has been pretty hushed-up. Sheriff's Department has said they do not want to release too much info due to their conducting what could be a criminal investigation.

I have my doubts of the car being filmed by someone going into the pond. As I said, the area where the pond is, has been reported to be in a remote area of the property.
Nobody is going to argue that it is all very strange and there is very little that has been formally released by the sheriff. Up until the news that this has been turned into a criminal investigation, there is nothing that I recall being released as to why they have not put the details out there. Does the fact it is a criminal investigation provide adequate explanation for the silence? Perhaps it does....
So the statement that she was there alone... that is somebody’s pure speculation and is not supported by anything. Ditto for the statement about the pond being on a ‘remote part of the property’. There is nothing that supports that. By the way, I’ve been following this case fairly closely and that is the first time I’ve heard that one. No information has been released as to which pond so anything about that is speculation.

What Kyle Bass said is that ‘there is video of it entering the pond’... he did not say anything about it ‘being filmed by someone’. There is a big difference... Rich people have lots of cameras and surveillance equipment and no doubt the Tesla itself has cameras. There may be other ways the video could have been taken as well.
It would be real helpful if folks just stuck to facts and when speculating, say it is speculation and what the evidence is for why speculating in a particular way....
Unless the car itself filmed itself while it was entering the pond, I have no clue as to how the incident would be filmed. Do you?
I think that the most obvious answer to that would be if there were surveillance cameras that captured it. However, that does raise other questions... How did Kyle Bass know this? He ‘seemed to insinuate that he saw it’ because he added details to it... how would that be possible? This too is all part of the endless questions about this.

Apparently the list was updated on January 31, 2024, but Bass didn't mention what specific Chinese company/companies that Breyer had invested in.
Breyer made the comment about ‘pausing investments in China’ on January 18 during the Davos conference but as I understand this interview, he is just continuing what he’s been doing for a while. The China question comes up in this short interview at the 4:25 minute mark.
