Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has rejected a proposal to raise the governor’s salary with a three percent increase in the 2025 budget, asserting that an increase is “appropriate for others given the persistent inflation” but not for the governor’s salary.
“I’ve spoken to legislative leaders and asked that they remove a proposed 3% increase for the Governor’s salary in next year’s budget,” DeSantis said in a statement posted to X.
“While this increase is appropriate for others given the persistent inflation in the US economy, it is best to leave the Governor’s salary as is,” he said, garnering praise from several commenters who commended him for setting the “right example”:

BS. Your claims are simply not true. Please put down the Kool Aid.
And 2032
And 2036
And 2040
And 2044
And 2048...
And what is that “pretty clear idea”?
My all means, document your claim.
The link I supplied said the following...
He spent how many months in Iowa? And that was not anything to do with being Governor of Florida.
In fact, the Florida legislature changed a law to allow Ron to pursue higher office, shortly after that law was enacted.
Politicians are really disgusting.
“since he hasn’t secure FL borders in all his years as governor.”

Is your neighbor’s dog telling you to write this absurd drivel?
Glad to see another long-time FReeper who has had enough of Trump's BS.
Don't get me wrong. I'll hold my nose and vote for him with all the enthusiasm that I voted for Romney in 2012. After all, I will concede, he's better than Biden. But not by much.
It pains me to say that I wholeheartedly supported him in 2016. My posting history reflects this.
And I will forever give credit to Donald Trump for denying that witch, Hillary Clinton, the White House in 2016. One of the greatest election victories of my life.
But it was all downhill after that.
What a profound disappointment
I expect he'll win in 2024. But my bar is set pretty low. I firmly believe he's going to throw MAGA under the bus the moment he returns to the White House.
There will be no retribution. No revenge. He's going to give the Democrats everything they ask for in exchange to throttling back in the lawfare.
He doesn't give a crap about uncouth Walmart-shopping MAGAdonians. Never has. He's contemptuous of his base. He loathes these people.
He loathes all of us. But keep sending him money! God knows, he needs it!
Seems to have gotten him over the hump against a hard partying druggie. Or did you forget that.......for the umpteenth time......
All of you here still mourning RDS failure are the ones who don't.
Anyone still pouting instead of joining forces to beat back the evil leftists in power have your heads far up the dark side. Time to wake up, time to let it go.
De Santis did not fail. His mission was accomplished.
He ran, he resigned the campaign and endorsed Trump. That is success, not failure.
He will run again untainted by narcissistic inability.
He lost a lot of good will. Wasted a lot of time and money. A lot of us in Florida won't forget.
As to narcisism, the idea that he should take out Trump ranks high in that area. Or the idea that Trump would go to jail, giving him the path to the presidency. Heavy, heavy issues there showing poor judgment .
He may come back, but I doubt it.
You haven’t been paying attention very well. I’m a DeSantis supporter. I dislike it because it is wrong. At 134K the Governor’s salary is modest, and a 3% increase wouldn’t make it excessive. It’s in the public interest for a Governor to be well compensated, and a salary of $200,000 wouldn’t be excessive for a big state like Florida.
It mostly worked for Bill Clinton. It’s my understanding he had to be dragged kicking and screaming to do the right thin.
Then took credit when it was a success.
Not to mention our Nat debt was a fraction of what it is today
Don’t get me wrong.
I think pols should be paid far less.
But I don’t think DeSantis did this for a noble reason.
And I’ll bet he’s got a high salary, cushy sinecure, courtesy Deep State, waiting for him when he leaves office.
How do we know who the good guys are?
And even if we have some idea who the good guys are....how do they/we fix a corrupt system that is doing everything it can to maintain it’s corrupt power?
Until and unless enough good people ..willing to arrest...assassinate? The bad people..what will change?
Seems to me a handful of states are our only hope.
Peoples motivation for doing the right thing almost doesn’t matter.
I can live with doing the right thing whatever the reason.
America has been altered..will we ever get it back? Who knows?
“I disagree, Trump has a pretty clear idea for our time.
I also like a lot of what RDS has done in Florida.”
I agree with what you have written here.
I see you never came back to document your claim.
Proposed Florida SB 1740 refers to an existing Defending Freedom Fighters Trust Fund as was created by SB 1738.
Existing Florida SB 1738 specifies:
Tax payer funding would require additional legislative appropriations.
It's as I previously said.
DeSantis not supporting the bill is a Deep State lawfare friendly thing that he does.
“DeSantis not supporting the bill is a Deep State lawfare friendly thing that he does.”
This is a flat-out lie fed to you to repeat. Please put down the Kool Aid.
