In a move aimed at curbing the spread of what it terms “online hate,” the Liberal government of Canada has revealed its plan, including hefty fines for online speech and stringent punishment including up to life imprisonment for hate crimes.
The centrepiece of this initiative is the proposed Online Harms Act, details of which were unveiled during a technical briefing released to reporters on Monday.
Among the categories of harmful content identified in the act are materials that incite violent extremism or terrorism, promote violence, or foment hatred.
The bill will include amendments to the Criminal Code aimed at addressing hate crimes more effectively. The Online Harms Act, also known as Bill C-63 was tabled by Liberal Minister of Justice Arif Virani in the House of Commons on the same day.
These amendments include the introduction of a standalone hate crime offence applicable across all criminal offences, with penalties extending up to life imprisonment.
Maximum punishments for existing hate propaganda offences are also set to be increased substantially.

What is hate speech?
Come and get me Canada. ‘Canadian maple syrup is not as good as HFCS”. Come and get me you Mounties. You look a lot like red coats.
CanaDuh is swiftly becoming a fascist utopia.

islam is a totalitarian death cult founded by a child rapist.
They’ve been one ever since truedolt came into power.
Send that abomination of a religion back to hell where it belongs!
little do they realize that enacting such severe penalties for simple remarks, penalties that are much much worse than penalties for murder, people are gonna get real real pissed and will resort to the latter in an effort to stop the politicians from enforcing the prior, knowing that they won’t spend as much time in prison for murder as they woudl for saying something that someone finds offensive- hasn’t Canada got anyone capable of simple foresight there?-
No 1st Amendment in Canada.
Oh Canada you are turning into a pile of crap.
They will be free to hate Christians though. There’s no problem there…
Trudeau admires the CCP so much he’s hell bent on surpassing their tyranny. Oh, Canaduh!
Anything the left feels it can use to jail and shut down its political opposition.
Protecting Muslims and lgbtqwtf people. One can rant and rave about Christians and whites all they want.
This hate speech legislation will probably be an election issue before it sees any chance of passing parliament. And the main opposition party have already said they see problems with it.
Part of the context for it is the recent surge in anti-Semitism coming from some Islamic and some far-left sources. So I’m not sure if that component will play the same way across the political spectrum as a more traditional let’s nail heterosexual Christians hate speech campaign intended to force the UN agenda through parliament as has been the trend in Canada for about two decades now.
As to the question posed, “is there nobody (etc) who can see what’s happening?” that’s rather ironic coming from anyone who has taken a public position in favor of Russian aggression in Ukraine, but also the answer is exactly the same as it would be if I asked (which I don’t because I am not stupid) “doesn’t anyone in America see what’s happening at the U.S. border?” Of course people see it and of course this forum is largely populated by people who are particularly offended by what they see in that and numerous other cases, as are we who still oppose the globalist agenda in Canada. Just seeing it does not automatically bring an end to it, we have to hope God sees it and shares our concerns about these matters, because our human opposition has been thwarted on numerous occasions and we can’t even get fair elections or their consequences, so that divine intervention is looking like the only way forward.
I pray every day that all this madness will end and the Satanic agendas will be overturned. But if there’s legislation to punish those who call in public for harm to fall on Christians and Jews, then I would support that, although I don’t trust current governments, so really the prime objective is to defeat current governments and then fit legislation to actual cases of violent hate, before we get to a stage where complete chaos develops in our society, and I would call that a chaos not unforeseen by either its architects or its critics, but unforeseen by the mushy middle voters who have shown time after time that they have no clue what their elected leaders are really doing or intending to do with power.
Anyway Trudeau is on the brink of being swept away, I hope, as he gets more and more trapped in the absurdity of his self-cancelling policies.
I should mention also that the legislation apparently contains provisions aimed at stricter punishments for those who entrap young people (let’s say aged 12 to 18) on line in sexual exploitation schemes, aimed at grooming them for sexual perversion or possibly a financial blackmail reward, which has led to a number of high profile cases of teenage suicide in Canada. This part of the legislation will probably be very popular and I would imagine the political opposition will be working to decouple the two different legislative agendas so they aren’t placed in the position of appearing to oppose this less contentious portion. The same goes for incitement to violence against Jews, here again the government will probably try to use public sympathy for that part of the legislation to force through less popular aspects. It is always the Liberal (as with Democrats) way to design omnibus legislation with something for everybody to create disarray among opponents. The best remedy we have against this is to remove them from power so we can be the ones designing the legislation that is actually wanted or needed.
Well, I guess this means the Canadians will no longer be able to sing the “I’m A Lumberjack” song, eat buttered scones on Wednesday; now what am I to do with my daddies bra and panties?
