Along with these things, 30+ round magazines and 50 round drums (of dubious reliability) are aslo hoodrat status items. Videos I have seen, in the hands of competent shooters, these firearms cannot be controlled in an effective manner, they’re an area weapon.

Fully auto handguns have never been a practical item.

My indoor range is authorized to rent Class III. For Valentine's Day, my wife and I split a 50 rd box of 9mm in a Glock 18. The Glock 18 had a stock and forward grip. Even so, it was a handful. I kept all of my shots on a 10 inch square target at 15 yards. The Glock 18 muzzle climbs up and right. The gang bangers use a Glock 17 with a "switch". You don't have as much leverage against the muzzle climb and twist with just the pistol grip. Having experienced full auto with the Glock 18, I'm not very much interested in owning one.

Remember that gang shooting in Puerto Rico from around two years ago? It was a pretty graphic display of gang violence, with modified Glocks with the 30+ round magazines heavily featured. They seemed effective enough, although the shooters probably had lots of familiarity with the “switch”.
