Newly released video shows the 16-year-old nonbinary student who died the day after a fight in an Oklahoma high school bathroom recounting the events leading up to the brawl to a cop — who said the teen “essentially started it.”
Nex Benedict appeared conscious and alert in the police bodycam footage as they sat in a hospital bed during police questioning after their bullies allegedly bashed their head against the floor.
The sophomore and their mother told an Owasso school course officer that a group of girls that had been “antagonizing” them in the days before had been picking on Nex and their friends over the way they dressed.

Wrong.
This was a biological girl (a quiet, straight A student according to earlier reports) minding her own damn business in the bathroom when she got jumped by 3 bullies who had been previously reported for harassment.
Nice way to justify a violent assault that lead to the suicide of an innocent 16 year old kid by referring to her as “it.” This was a human being with a God-given soul.
I’m willing to bet that confusion was fueled by school staff.
Just to clarify…
The dead person was a biological female who called herself non-binary.
She and another biological female, whom she referred to as her friend, were in the bathroom when three other girls started commenting among themselves about the other two girl’s clothes. “Why do they dress like that.” Is, I believe, the quote.
The deceased was offended and poured/squirted water at the three girls. At this point hostilities began. Note the non-binary student started it and it was 3 on 2, not 3 on 1.
The deceased stated that after a few shared punches, they knocked her off her feet and smacked her head against the floor. A staff member was on hand less than two minutes after the start of the fight, breaking it up and taking them to the office.
Somewhere along the line the three girls made their escape. The friend of the deceased had to be escorted to their bus for safety. The deceased went to the hospital to be checked out and was released soon after. She was not diagnosed with a concussion.
She died the next day. Preliminary autopsy results are that she did not die from trauma. Toxicology reports are pending.
What’s next for Nex?
Yeah, it is difficult to follow the writing of someone who uses plural personal pronouns when singular should be used.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/interactive/2023/homeschooling-growth-data-by-district/ ... The story explains one of many reasons home-schooling is rising. People tried it during Covid and the benefits were clear. No homework and lots of time to explore other things without wasting time on “homework”.
Exactly.
You are correct.
The article says (per the mother) that the net morning, her daughter had shallow breathing, her eyes were rolling, etc. Could be effects of the concussion. Could be drugs. Autopsy and Toxicology Report needed.
She looks like a reasonably sweet kid, just caught up in attention-seeking via transient gender hysteria. Whatever happened, it wasn’t worth fighting, killing, or dying over.
Odysseus is not upright on the moon, because it suffered a “gender neutral landing failure.”
The lunar lander would not believe the truth of what it was seeing.
It was programmed to “keep being itself.”
If “They” could be them, maybe the three girls were simply “Her” (singular.) In that case, they outnumbered her.
Thanks. My experience has been that people may be told they don’t have a head injury when they really do.
Regardless, it’s very sad. Young people are saying they’re “non-binary” when they’re basically average, just trying out different styles or going against stereotypes. Having a “special identity” earns status points, while being a regular teenager who wears jeans and a rock band shirt doesn’t.
I can understand the confusion, to some extent: the article was total garble.
Egad. So…for some unknown reason, they felt the need to interject her non-binary-ness, which made it even more confusing for no reason at all.
Classic overlooked epidural hematoma. Hick dumbass mom will be rich if she sees this post, so she can have another mutant.
Very incorrect things being passed as facts not in evidence here.
The creature involved here did get in a fight in a restroom and got checked out at the hospital.
After being given an all clear by the physicians, it died at home.
After a PRELIMINARY autopsy, the medical examiner publicly said that it did not die as a result of injuries sustained in the fight.
The medical examiner did not elaborate on what the cause of the creature’s death was. Some have speculated that he was implying suicide or some other misfortune at home.
The Owasso PD (Owasso is a large suburban town north of Tulsa) are investigating now, going to the school with a search warrant, taking pictures and examining the bathroom for forensic evidence, whatever it might be.
The last one heard, no information about what actually did cause the creature to die has been shared with the public.
Apologies for my deplorable use of pronouns. It’s all so confusing. Imagine how confusing it must be, to be sixteen and have such a confusing pile of hsit pumped into one’s brain when one could have had a normal teenage life, in this case by a uh, grandmother, according to local reports.
So tragic. She didn't help matters when she waved off Liam's desire to put her in the ambulance that had arrived on the spot, he wanted to pack her up straight to NY, where she eventually died at Lenox Hill. It would have been a ballbuster to get to that clot but had she climbed in that ambulance that came to Mont Tremblant, yeah, she might have made it.
The improper use plural pronouns to refer to a single person makes the article incomprehensible.

I definitely hear you....
and banged her head on the floor. The hospital released Nex, but she later died of her head injury,

So. The floor was too hard.
Floor contactor to be held accountable.
Or, maybe the school contractors who spec’ed the floor.
