WAUKESHA, WI — A group of teenagers believed to be from the Chicago area broke into a luxury car dealership in Wisconsin and drove off with nine vehicles worth more than a half-million dollars, police said.
Sunday's heist at a Jaguar-Land Rover dealership in Waukesha was captured on surveillance camera footage showing nine masked suspects filing into the dealership before each drives off in a car in the city about 19 miles (30.5 kilometers) west of Milwaukee.
The video also shows one car being backed up and smashed through an overhead service door.
Waukesha Police Capt. Dan Baumann said the suspects broke into the dealership about 6 a.m. Sunday, found where its car keys were stored and then activated those key fobs to find the cars they stole.
“Nine subjects went out and throughout there looking for keys. One person finds where the keys were hidden and then starts to disseminate those to his friends,” Baumann told WISN-TV.
The nine vehicles are valued at more than $583,000, he said.
One suspect, a 17-year-old Chicago boy, was arrested Sunday in the southern Wisconsin community of Pleasant Prairie after the stolen vehicle he was driving crashed along Interstate 94 during a police pursuit. He was being held at the Waukesha County Jail on a $50,000 bond and faces burglary, theft and criminal damage to property charges, Baumann said.
Police said Sunday that the suspects are believed to be “an organized crime group of teenagers from the Chicago area.”
Baumann said Friday that all or most of the teen suspects are known to members of a police task force in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois and police in that two-state region were still searching Friday for the eight other suspects.

In my view the best deterrent would be required 5:30 to 6:00 am awakening, followed by a full day of heavy physical labor. No access to the internet, with the exception of educational materials. No gym. No television. The only music they should be allowed to listen to should be early jazz and classical. Nothing else. But lots of non-fiction books should be available.

Those kind of Chicago yutes often wind up in high-speed chases and crashes over here in Indiana. Looks like they have they stealing part down pat. They just need to work on the getting away.

Let me guess, juveniles so released to the custody of their “parent.”
I suspect they were being used to steal the cars for a larger criminal organization - b/c fewer consequences for juveniles.
IIRC the only color episode of the original Perry Mason TV series was about a car theft ring where the thieves were all juveniles, since they would be punished much less severely than adults. Sixty years later, and the only change in the MO is the ethnicity of the juveniles.
I constantly had discussions with the manager about making sure the old large Wells-Fargo type safe (the kind you see in cowboy movies) contained all of the keys and all of the titles, and that the safe was supposed to be locked at all times to ensure that stuff did not disappear.
The salesforce and the manager hated to see me walk into the office there because the first thing I did was spin the combination dial to make sure the safe was locked.
Until somebody broke into the office one night and could not steal anything of value because the safe was locked.

We will see more and more of this as illegals flood into the country. They might live in the Democrat cities, but they will hunt far afield.
