Thanks for the explanation. I guess that folks in the Bay Area would know that. Interesting that the word itself is innocuous - even fun sounding. And probably is meant that way so they can release these criminals right away. “Oh c’mon - he was only bipping!”

I forget the term used by some conservative Seattle talk-show host. He tried to frame these crimes almost like a death - I think he used the term “life energy”. Broken window, stolen stuff - adds up to $600. A person working a $25 an hour job - that was 3 working days (or more with taxes, mileage, etc) of “life energy” that had just been taken from him.

Thank you for the explanation. We have constant bipping going on in my city. Everyday we get alerts of men checking car doors at 1am caught on security cams. Sad.
