Good question.

They sure are our Trident Missiles I know Peter Hitchens who I read a lot was upset that the UK uses the US missile system for its nuclear deterrence.

Those subs end up having to be serviced here in the good ole USA.

Maybe we need to look at British human error or defense contractor error here in the states.

Only a few oil leaks.

These two were responsible for the development of North Korea’s Nodong 1 missile.

And this is supposedly the US’ most militarily competent ally.

The Houthis are more accurate with their missiles than the vaunted British Navy

Think about this for a minute.

There was a time when "the sun never set on the British Empire."

Look how far they've come/fallen!

Better yet, look who is following right in their footsteps!

Just remember NOTHING LAST FOREVER -- especially if you're stupid!

Thanks for that..

I’d never seen it before.

Quality comedy is difficult to come by these days.

It seems as if empires have a “ death gene” built into them. This gene forces empires to expand and expand. Be involved everywhere, until the expanding ballon pops.

We saw that with so many empires. They all fail. Roman, British, German, etc. And as you noted, now it’s the American Empire.

Meanwhile, Switzerland minds its own business and keeps chugging along.

Yes. Just like us!

We're born, we're young and grow, we mature (produce/contribute), we get old, we die!

That is pretty much the path of nature. Right?

Well, we don't really die. We return as a spirit in Heaven -- from whence we came.

I'm amazed at the fools who believe our empire will last forever.

I sure like your Switzerland example. Not becoming an empire may be the best way to survive. Otherwise, empires rise and fall.

Maybe China is another example. They've pretty much rearranged the deck chairs and reinvented themselves many, many times for almost 3000 years. This latest re-invention (last 30 or so years) had worked out pretty well.

Thanks for the thoughts.

No wonder NATO has their hands so far in our pockets while they laze around and screw up what little they have

They’re not actually armed - they inform other important parties prior to launch as to when and where

I'm sure our enemies are having a good laugh, though.

All according to plan.

Absolutly not good. A missile like this one is highly dangerous when it fails to ignite. The submarine is below it and it can damage the submarine if fallback occurs and sub impact occurs, The missile is usually not given a trajactory that could hit the submarine but this likely depends upon sea current at the time.

These missiles are built and supplied to UK by the US and may things must succeed in order to ignite, This will be intensively studied both in the US and the UK.

The Trident test launches have an extremely good history but as the article says they are aging and electronics like everything is subject to aging characteristics.

What the hell is ANYONE doing firing nuclear missiles to begin with?

Most likely a nuclear-capable missile with a dummy warhead.
