New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) addressed New York business owners in a new interview and told them there was “nothing to worry about” after former President Trump was hit with a $355 million fine and the inability to conduct business in New York for three years.
Hochul joined John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable” on WABC 770 AM where she was asked if other New York businesspeople should be worried that if “they can do that to the former president, they can do that to anybody.”
“I think that this is really an extraordinary unusual circumstance that the law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are business people have nothing to worry about because they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior,” Hochul responded.
A New York judge on Friday ordered Trump to pay the massive sum in penalties in a civil fraud case. The decision came just weeks after closing arguments wrapped up a months-long trial after New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) sued Trump for alleging he falsely altered his net worth to receive tax and insurance benefits.

IOW, they’d better start worrying.
Did she really think that this would calm fears? I doubt it....even when considering who said it the statement seems designed to have the opposite effect.
Shows she’s getting worried.
The Wall Street Journal had an editorial pointing out how this could discourage businesses from setting up branches in NY - just in case they might run afoul of some politician’s agenda.
(Both the NY State Attorney General and the head of the NY State Senate Judiciary Committee ran on platforms advocating “getting” Trump.)
If anyone living in NY, is the least bit conservative, get out while you can, business owner or citizen.
Same with any other blue state. It’s a time for choosing. You’re supporting the enemy with sales tax, state added utility fees, fuel tax. Further, you’re supporting businesses that pay taxes to the state.
I don’t care about your history. I grew up in MA and the earliest in my surname line goes back to 1630. We have ancestral lines going back to 12 of the Mayflower passengers and my paternal grandparents are buried in the same cemetery as Pilgrims.
I live in MO now and you couldn’t pay me enough to go back to MA. It’s not what it once was and will never return.
‘ESSENTIAL’ FEDERAL SPENDING BILL
....
The Treasury shall withhold all payments to the State of New York and its political subdivisions and operating entities.
Note to businesses everywhere:
First they came for Trump...
There is no red state in the nation.
We are not voting-with-our-feet our way out of this.
I hope President Trump refuses to send any help at all to
to them no good ungrateful yankees.
He didn’t overvalue his property
Just PROVES IT WAS TO DESTROY TRUMP!
Tacit admission that it's all a bill of attainder.
Did JAMES go to the White House?
The governor could have said something positive about Trump, considering all the wealth he has created for NY City and State.
I hope he keeps it up, with maximum effect.
Rich New Yorkers (except maybe doctors and lawyers) should flee.
As for the rest, you’ll wind up renting your house from the teachers’ union, but their rents (paid via property tax) are effectively capped by rents elsewhere in the USA.
Cuz we are only prosecuting this type of crime because it’s Trump. We won’t bother you if you don’t run for President.
Financial firms should exit New York while their employees can sell off houses to New York doctors and lawyers.
They may also have gone too far with the laws on rent increases. There are apparently many, many apartments sitting empty because the landlords can’t afford to fix them up for re-rental. Just maybe, the law passed in 2019 was too heavily weighted in favor of the tenants—so heavily that it is actually ending up hurting them.
“the law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers”
Who decides that? Oh...a judge. All of a sudden, you’re declared to have committed fraud by somebody that doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
Make sure you and each member of your household has a passport with at least a year on it if you are well-to-do or outspoken.
