When you get on an airplane, there are a lot of things that you can reasonably expect could go wrong. Maybe your seatmate is too wide to fit in just one seat. Maybe a child will start crying. Maybe you’re forced to witness another passenger going to the bathroom barefoot. No one is going to enjoy experiencing any of those issues, but they’re also completely normal. On a recent flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, however, the Daily Mail reports that passengers had to deal with the completely unexpected problem of maggots falling onto them from the overhead compartmen

It could have been something left from a previous flight and not discovered during cleaning.
I doubt anyone will know who left it.

Probably the remains of a body left in the overhead storage bin.

Sounds like one of those Spirit airlines flights with lots of, ah, ethnic coloring onboard.

No so.....if the fish was frozen at check in, in Amsterdam it would have had 9 hours to thaw before arriving in Detroit.

Lots of ‘regular Americans’ live in Detroit and its suburbs. (There are probably even some here on FR.)

Let's see...we have had doors falling of planes, fisticuffs over who bumped who, a passenger locked in the bathroom the whole flight, stabbings, snakes, and now we have rotting fish generating maggots falling on passengers. That sounds like Chinese. I remember the Chinese residents in my former Queens condo putting fresh fish on top of the bushes around the buildings, apparently to dry them. Set up such a stink!
Fewer and fewer reasons to board a plane these days. Remember when it was an occasion and people dressed up for flights?

Looks like a passenger wanted to keep one step ahead of the in-fies meal service.
In simpler times, we thought tribbles were trouble.

That doesn’t mean that everyone who flies, is.
(And ‘First World’ people can be just as sloppy and irresponsible as anyone in the Third.)

I would think that everything that happens on an airplane, including when it’s being cleaned, would be on video. It seems more likely that a passenger brought it in a very well-wrapped and smell-shielded container which somehow got knocked about or opened on purpose.
I wonder how many additional pages will be added to the TSA list of what not to bring aboard. Common sense is not very common anymore.
