Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, already rebuked by former President Donald Trump and no fewer than three Republican statewide elected leaders, has now been censured by his own state GOP for a "lack of fidelity to Republican principles and priorities."
The censure, handed down Saturday by a 55-4 vote of the State Republican Executive Committee (with four members abstaining), comes as the second-term speaker is facing two primary challengers for his Southeast Texas House district seat and is hoping to cobble together the majority of votes he'll need to keep the gavel in the 150-member lower chamber when the Legislature convenes in 11 months.

Now, it’s time to go after Cornyn.
One of his challengers needs to endorse the other and drop out.
Dade Phelan is a cool name feels like a Star Trek alien name.
Need to look into his ties to Colony Ridge
Possible links to the criminals running this scam
The developers sell property to illegals, take it back, then re-sell it
Someone high up is protecting them and these people wanted Paxton out
People who have gone through Colony Ridge report packs of abandoned dogs everywhere, abandoned when properties are repossessed. No animal control or other services
Paxton I believe is looking into it
This!
For those that don’t see the ads for Phelans seat, they are getting pretty nasty. I think Phelan is on the ropes and scared. Paxton and David Covey have run ads attacking the politics of Phelan. Phelan has run one ad accusing Paxton of having an affair and another accusing Covey of calling himself a lawyer when he never took the bar exam.
“lack of fidelity to Republican principles and priorities.”
Will this work for Cornyn? Fingers crossed.
Phelan was elected by democrats, as almost all speakers of the Texas house are. It’s a dirty secret in Texas that almost no one speaks of.
AUSTIN, Texas —
Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan has been forced into a runoff for the Republican nomination in his East Texas district by challenger David Covey, highlighting a fierce campaign by state Attorney General Ken Paxton to oust dozens of GOP incumbents who sought his impeachment last year.
Phelan advanced to a May 28 runoff against Covey, an oil and gas consultant and party activist endorsed by Paxton and former President Donald Trump. Neither candidate could win a majority for victory outright in a race that included retired hairdresser Alicia Davis.
