Joe Biden is incapable of assuring voters he can handle another presidential term, his team has 'no plan' on how to deal with his senile behavior, and he should simply 'not be running for re-election,' according to New York Times authors.
Anxieties from the liberal Times' Editorial Board and opinion writers show how worried they are that ailing Biden may not be able to beat 'bad man' Donald Trump this year.
The back-to-back opinion pieces knifing the elderly president, 81, over the weekend comes after a Justice Department report ripped into his handling of classified documents and portrayed him as a forgetful old man.
The 388-page report by Special Counsel Robert Hur confirmed he would not be charged - but it said that was because a jury would probably conclude he had 'diminished faculties' and was a 'well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.'
Biden's lack of enthusiasm on the campaign trail, coupled with his doddering public appearances and 'crotchety grandpa' attitude, are huge concerns during this 'dark time' in his presidential tenure, according to the left-leaning broadsheet paper.
'He needs to do more to show the public that he is fully capable of holding office until age 86,' the Times board stated on Sunday.
On February 9, the New York Times' Editorial Board published a damning, honest opinion piece, titled: 'The Challenges of an Aging President.'
The team at the newspaper concluded: 'This is a dark moment for Mr. Biden’s presidency.
They said that Biden's performance at his news conference on Thursday night was 'intended to assure the public that his memory is fine and argue that Mr. Hur was out of line' - but this is not what happened.
Instead, according to the opinion piece, 'the president raised more questions about his cognitive sharpness and temperament...

What typo?
The convention is in Chicago. As you said, it should be entertaining.
Chicago: Centrally located, and thus a doable drive for hooligans from both coasts.
eventually all media outlets will realize that it isn’t liberals that butter their bread. remember friends, how ever far one side goes is how far the rebound goes. unfortunately for the left they’ve been compressing the spring for so long the rebound will take it further right than if they had of just let nature take its course.
“If they admit the obvious and remove Biden, they will admit that they knowingly ran a senile candidate in 2020. If they circle the wagons and defend Biden everyone will see that they are willing to run an obviously senile candidate in 2024. “

While I agree with every word you wrote, I think you give the Democrats, both their leadership and their zombie lemming voters, too much credit for integrity or remorse. They have neither.
If they replace him, they will go all in for the new candidate as if nothing happened. They will thank Gropin’ Joe for his service, and shuffle him out for a long standing ovation at their convention. And their media and their voters (and certainly their ballot-fixers) will follow along with all their heart and mind and soul and strength.
The political Left is supposedly outraged by the insinuation that Joe is failing mentally, but all this distracts from the fact that he should face charges (or at the very least some kind of official censor).
Prob is..the Big Guy makes more sense than most of the rest of the left put together!
RE: Whitmer.
Dreams of good, intelligent people with integrity coming forward in Michigan (my state) to denounce and stop the re-election of Gretchen Whitmer did not materialize.
She kept millions in total lockdown for Covid, self-righteously saying “WE follow science.” You could only go to a drug store for a current Rx (people were ordered to patrol to watch for pedestrians and drivers disobeying. An altered voice Michigan State Police official said on WJR: “I don’t care what she ordered. We have much better ways to use our police resources than to do this.”
You could not go to a religious meeting or congregation service, a class, fitness center, movie theater, wedding or even to have non-emergency surgery or other procedure including a medical test.
You could go to a package liquor store (heavy alcohol users tend to domestic violence if cut off) and any abortion center (as that is for “women’s healthcare.”)
After many conservatives looked to her being rejected by the voters, she WON re-election and has been considered a possible VP or Presidential candidate.
The NYT does not do anything out of good faith. They either are planning what you are saying, or they are just using this as their own cover themselves by saying they are fair - when they know damn well no one is getting in trouble over this.
They will admit nothing.
They’re setting him up to throw him under the bus to “lighten the troika.” They’ll blame all the problems of his admin on his senility and claim that they were just trusting dupes. Just keep them in power and they’ll fix it...
why didnt jill say anything?
they put a dementia patient in charge
and he will make them go down with the ship
cuz he will not give up the helm
FTA——Ross Douthat wrote in the Times: snip ‘Joe Biden should not be running for re-election. ‘The impression the president gives in public is not senility so much as extreme frailty, like a light bulb that still burns so long as you keep it on a dimmer.’
He said if Biden drops out and anoints Vice President Kamala Harris ‘she’s even more likely to lose to Donald Trump.’
But, he says: ‘If he drops out and doesn’t endorse his own number two, he’d be opening himself to a narrative of identitarian betrayal — aging white president knifes first woman-of-color veep — and setting his party up for months of bloodletting and betrayal, a constant churn of personal and ideological drama.’

I tried to say that. The earlier antiwar protesters were trying to get LBJ out to end the war but then the Left saw that the successors would just continue it and the end of LBJ’s reign wasn’t the end of the war.
The anti-LBJ candidates couldn’t stop Humphrey (RFK was on the rise bur then killed) and then the next President Nixon would not permit a dishonorable defeat as a quick end to the war.
One of my favorite anecdotes:
Humphrey was confined to following the unpopular LBJ war policies and threatened to have his own more moderate and popular one. An aide to LBJ heard of it and sent the aid to see him. “You go in there and remind Hubert that I still have his balls in my side pants pocket.” Humphrey gave in.
Starting to make the turn, slowly. They want Biden to stay in office until August but in such bad shape no one will object too strongly to leapfrogging Newsome over Kamala at the convention.
Uncle Hector Salamanca was still a cartel boss even after he became completely disabled. Put him in a wheel chair. Give him a bell to ring.
Joe Biden——Bought and Paid For The “Delaware Way”
Fr thread-—Delaware State Supreme Court Lets U of Delaware
Keep Biden Senate Records Hidden From Taxpaying Public

The Delaware Supreme Court sided with the University of Delaware Thursday, denying the release of President Joe Biden’s Senate records in a lawsuit brought by the Daily Caller News Foundation and Judicial Watch.
The DCNF and Judicial Watch appealed to the Delaware Supreme Court in January 2023 after the state’s Superior Court found the university had satisfied the burden of proof needed to justify denying the records that the DCNF requested through the state’s public records act.
The Delaware Supreme Court affirmed the Superior Court’s judgement Thursday, shielding the documents requested in both organization’s April 30, 2020 public records requests from release.
“The public has a significant interest in these documents,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told the DCNF. “If the Delaware courts are going to protect Biden from having to produce them or the secret deal that keeps them away from the American people, then Congress should get involved.”
Documents requested by the DCNF, which now will not be released, include
<><>agreements WRT storage of 1,850 boxes and 415 gigabytes of records from 1973-2009,
<><>communications between university staff and Biden’s staff,
<><>log sheets of individuals who have visited the collection, and,
<><> the actual records in the collection.
The records may contain information
<><>relating to Tara Reade,
<><>who accused Biden of sexually assaulting her while working in his senate office in 1993,
<><>or the president’s son Hunter Biden,
<><>who recently plead guilty to possessing a firearm while using a controlled substance, and,
<><> for failing to pay taxes in 2017 and 2018.
Biden’s records have been housed at the University of Delaware Library since 2012. He gave them to the university on the condition that they would not be publicly released until “they have been properly processed and archived,” according to the university’s website.
During oral arguments for the case in June, legal counsel representing the university told the Delaware Supreme Court it could determine whether public funds were used to support Biden’s papers without looking at the records.
