Why Joe Biden's Handling of Classified Records is Worse than Trump's Case
Declassified ^ | 2/11/24 | JULIE KELLY

According to the report released last week by Special Counsel Robert Hur, Joe Biden has a long history of mishandling classified material.

Witnesses told Hur during the course of his year-long investigation that as vice president, Biden routinely took classified files and did not return them as required. “Mr. Biden was known to remove and keep classified material from his briefing books for future use, and his staff struggled--and sometimes failed--to retrieve these materials,” Hur disclosed in the special counsel’s damning 388-page report.

Even the nation’s most guarded secrets were unsafe in Biden’s hands. “[In] August 2010… Mr. Biden failed to return Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (also referred to as ‘codeword’) contents of a classified briefing book that he had received during a trip to the Hamptons.” His reckless management of classified papers so alarmed White House officials that they scheduled a briefing with Biden that same month to review the necessary protocol.

Despite the briefing, Biden’s carelessness continued throughout his term. He would “frequently…leave classified documents unattended, outside of safes, at the Naval Observatory and his Delaware home,” former aides told investigators.

New details from Hur’s investigation, which involved interviews with 147 witnesses and Biden himself, indicate Biden’s bad habits didn’t stop after his vice presidency ended.

As usual, Kelly nails it and writes of the details of the issues which the main media ignores.

Nation’s most guarded secrets were unsafe in Biden’s hands.

Nobody knows what tikes were taken or copied and if Hunter had access to them or who’s names were on them that ended up in xi’s hands?.

He needs to be charged for the crimes he knew what he was doing when he did them.

Maybe so but the whole thing is a circus. Present and former President/VP use of declassified material is not a pressing concern.

Just more stupid politics.

which the main media ignores.

More importantly:
Which our elected officials choose to ignore.
The ones who should be all over this are the same ones that sttod by and let joe and company steal the presidency, allow the January 6 persecutions and stand around while lawfare is doing real election interference.
When in the course of events it becomes necessary....

It’s almost like there are one set of laws for Democrats, and another set of laws for the political enemies of the Democrats...

I think the main point she missed was that the Presidential records act allows ex-Presidents to classify and store sensitive material. Biden was Vice President.

Also Secret Service had access to Trump docs and the Biden docs were not set up this way.

Trump didn’t mishandle classified documents. He had every right to classify and declassify as he saw fit as President, and there’s not a danged thing the left could do about it.

Biden, on the other hand, has a history of treasonous activity dating back to when he was a senator, and he was NEVER President and therefore did not have executive privilege.

To even imply that Trump did something wrong is pure BS.

If he is too decrepit to be punished, take all of his worldly goods, and leave him with the pension of a 20 year retired soldier. The man has been stealing a paycheck for years. What is it? 50 years now? THAT is his punishment. His benefit is, his Harridan Jill will ball so fast his head would spin, if it already wasn’t.

The worst part of all this is that he took classified documents home as a Senator which is completely illegal and probably didn’t have a right to even see them.

Not to mention that Biden didn’t have the power at the time to declassify documents, nor was he then covered by the Presidential Records Act.

Since Biden tossed his aides under the bus, have any of them been charged with mishandling classified documents? Why not?

Does the president have to follow any specific declassification procedures?
The answer is no for two reasons.

First, Executive Order 13526 contains no such declassification procedures.

The Order sets forth (1) who may declassify information and (2) what standards they should apply, but beyond that, there is no additional process required.

While both individual agencies and the Information and Security Oversight Office have developed additional rules about how declassification should be carried out, none of these procedures apply to the president.

Second, given the president’s constitutional authority over both classified information and the administration of presidential executive orders, even if Executive Order 13526 did establish constraints, they are at most self-constraints that the president has the power to ignore.

Just misfiling a document within a secure facility would result in a failure during an inspection.

This meant the end of your career.

A misfiled document in a secure facility.

This also triggered a bigger investigation to see if you committed other errors like taking classified documents home, which could get you thrown into prison.

Spies take classified documents out of secure facilities.
