When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the Buzynov brothers, their mother, and Mykyta's girlfriend fled their home in Chernihiv in the north of the country to avoid the conflict. They went to the village of Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske, but by early March, Russian soldiers arrived there too. "We've come to liberate you from your government. Putin is cool," the soldiers exclaimed.
Volodymyr says the soldiers searched the village, confiscating phones and accusing his family of sharing the location of the Russian army - something they all deny. Then, Volodymr says, the soldiers set up what sounded like a fake execution.
"They took my brother Mykyta and others behind some trees and told them to line up against a wall, yelling: 'Get ready! Aim!' Then they took Mykyta's girlfriend Kateryna, and made her kneel next to him. Aiming a rifle at her head, they said to my brother: 'If you don't confess, we'll shoot her.'"
Volodymyr says that was the last time he saw Mykyta. "He may have confessed to save his girlfriend because they let her go. They told us: 'He admitted everything. He's facing up to 15 years in prison.'"
According to the Ukrainian government, as of November 2023 there were 4,337 Ukrainians in Russian captivity. Most were military personnel, but 763 were civilians. However, there is no official list of their names and Ukrainian authorities rely on data from the Red Cross.

Using a third-person form is not evidence of anything, silly quibbler. Let me stipulate some things.
1) Indeed, a non-NATO Russia invaded a non-NATO Ukraine.
2) As of today, Russia is not a part of NATO, and Ukraine is not a part of NATO.
3) Quibbling over verb forms is not disputation nor debate. It is childish.
4) I do not and have not typed an "LOL" about anything concerning this war, or any violence, civil and as small as a single crime to an entire war. LOL is inane, though so many use it without thinking that "laughing out loud" is a suitable part of adult discussion.
5) You could give some thought to the use of language, as in 1 Samuel 19:8. Or perhaps the likes of a History channel article which uses the expression that LOL's you: "Born in poverty, Andrew Jackson (1767-1845) had become a wealthy Tennessee lawyer and rising young politician by 1812, when war broke out between the United States and Britain." Or Britannica's "When war broke out, former Mexican president and general Antonio López de Santa Anna (the vanquisher of the Texan forces at the Alamo in 1836) contacted Polk." Or the title of a motion picture: Witness 1939: When War Broke Out."
Next time you want to LOL me, get yourself some worthy ammunition, because this time YOUR MAGAZINE WAS EMPTY.
Interesting that Stalin sat down with Roosevelt and Churchill. But since that picture disturbs, we can look back to the fancy folks who ginned up the Kellogg-Briand pact in 1928.
Sooner or later, people deeply and actively involved in the Ukraine-Russia war are going to have to sit down and talk. Just like this wee exchange. The talking probably won’t happen for another 5 years
In the meantime, there’s much Russian infrastructure - and the Black Sea Fleet - to destroy
But hey, Putin wanted a war, he’s now getting what he wanted - he should be happy!
Its called helping the enemy(Ukraine) of our enemy(Russia).
Right, Reagan was wrong in helping countries, because they were not in NATO. Okay
This is right in line with those village names you come up with. 😁
We are talking about prisoners. So it is ftting since Ukraine also has prisoners. We are talking about how they are treated. I doubt Russian prisoners and Ukrainians who are imprisoned for speaking against the war are treated kindly in Ukraine..
Gonzalo is an example. One that a nasty person on this thread beclowned himself with his lies.
Great quote from a REAL leader!
Thanks for posting that
Yup, destroying our enemies military without one US injury or death is a worthwhile goal and an important warning to China. US spent 5% of its military budget(Donating mostly older weapons) to destroy half of Russia’s military capability with the help of Ukraine.
Don't care by who!
However it's OK by me if Russia does the job.
Reagan dealt with the USSR. Biden, McConnell and Schumer -- your chums -- are dealing with the Russian Federation. Given so much money and materiel has gone to Ukraine, you should be a happier chap. Time will tell.
The outcome to the Ukraine-Russia war will be learned in time. We will learn the outcome, when the outcome is certain. The outcome of our nation's addiction to massive new debt will be learned in time. We will learn of this when that tale winds up or down. The outcome to many things will be learned when those things come to the ends of their historical arches.
But that silly stuff about how one expresses one's self in language.... You quibble where you fumble.
By the way, I voted for Reagan, and still think him the right man for that time. That was a while back, as his presidency and administration ended in 1989, and he passed in 2004.
This is 10 February 2024. Good morning.
Please provide a link to a federal government source in which this nation has declared Russia officially as "enemy." It is a solemn thing to declare formally.
Thanks in advance.
Well, it’s not his fault. He can’t do anything about the border. But he can advocate for just a few $100B more for Ukraine.
Well said, Traveler, Kudos.
The zeepers are like the crowd watching a fight where a small guy is getting beaten to death by a bigger guy.
Every time the smaller guy goes down, they pick him up and shove him back into the fight to get beaten some more.
Right now, the “small guy” is making the bigger guy look like a limp-wristed pansy
While the whole World laughs ...
Unless you have oodles and oodles of artillery and shells, and your opponent [in this case, the hapless Ukie hamburger] has got bupkis.
LOL, apparently thousands of Russian nuclear missiles aimed at us is not sufficient proof of animosity to some. Okay
Similarly, hostages have disappeared in Gaza.
I guess Mistress Chrystia let you out for your morning run on FR...
An 'small' interlocutor wrote you "Russia still has no battlefield successes (otherwise you’d be bragging about that!)"
Quite the little "burning sandwich bag of feces" left on a virtual front door, before ringing the bell and running.
Analysis: The war will end when it ends and as it ends. Not a day before. How it ends will be determined then, not in this moment. No one I have found on these threads "brags" about Russian successes per se, while so many brag about Ukraine successes which later turn out not to have been worth the brag. The war is one of attrition, as men are lost, money is expended (and some likely stolen), and materiel used up. Many lose much, which is why the stupid "lol" children make such inappropriate snipes, pretending themselves clever.
Death and destruction -- nothing to cheer about, on either side. Not in the larger scheme of things.
Look, we all enjoy seeing Russia get its ass kicked in front of the whole World
Maybe invading wasn’t such a good idea, huh?
