An amendment introduced to the Oregon legislature Thursday would criminalize drug use on public transit.

The Oregon Transit Association and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 757 are seeking to amend Senate Bill 1553 to create a misdemeanor charge for people who use illicit drugs while riding public transit.

The charge of interfering with public transportation would apply to a person who “while in or on a public transit vehicle or public transit station, knowingly ingests, inhales, injects, or otherwise consumes a controlled substance that is not lawfully possessed by the person,” the amendment reads.

I’m starting to see more “anti crime” bills in blue states. Are they (Dems) getting “killed” in polls for the upcoming election?

Oregon is just mow realizing that legalizing all drug use was a bad idea.

Because ‘public transit’ is a nearly sacred place according to dems. Anything that might discourage its use must be punished. Next up for consideration, criminalizing public urination/defecation on public transit.

So will this change anything? It’s my understanding that CBD Oil is legal everywhere. Does Oregon still require prescriptions for marijuana?

Note: It only seems to apply to the “Act of taking the drugs” while “On or Using” public transit.

Not being on drugs and using said transit.

No. There are smoke shops all over now. They are only outnumbered by drive-up to-go coffee outlets. My favorite shop is called "Human Bean". Note: I cannot abide coffee, and I have never smoked anything.

They could solve a lot of problems by using the words, “in public.”
