Hawaii court says 'spirit of Aloha' supersedes Constitution, Second Amendment

Hawaii's highest court ruled Wednesday that Second Amendment rights as interpreted by the U.S. Supreme Court do not extend to Hawaii citizens, citing the "spirit of Aloha."

In the ruling, which was penned by Hawaii Supreme Court Justice Todd Eddins, the court determined that states "retain the authority to require" individuals to hold proper permits before carrying firearms in public. The decision also concluded that the Hawaii Constitution broadly "does not afford a right to carry firearms in public places for self defense," further pointing to the "spirit of Aloha" and even quoting HBO's TV drama "The Wire."

"Article I, section 17 of the Hawaii Constitution mirrors the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution," the Hawaii Supreme Court decision states. "We read those words differently than the current United States Supreme Court. We hold that in Hawaii there is no state constitutional right to carry a firearm in public."

The problem with Democrats and guns is when a court ruling goes their way they’re all for enforcing it. And when it doesn’t they ignore it without any consequences. Hawaii comes in low on my list of places I’d want to live - ahead of North Korea Mongolia the Stans and Cuba it pretty much below everything else.

Don’t give it to China. Give it to Japan. They wanted it 80 years ago let them have it now and the lazy welfare sucking Hawaiians along with it.

Strategic location is less important in these days of Nuclear powered ships than it was 83 years ago.

I wonder what other Bill of Rights do not apply to Hawaii because of the Aloha spirit?

I wonder if unreasonable search and seizure or perhaps the right to refuse to testify against oneself in a court of law also don’t apply in Hawaii.

The Supreme Court Justices will have a lot of fun with this case.

I suspect the Hawaiian STASI are numerous enough to squash any freedom minded citizen who’s foolish enough to live there.

Read their words carefully; “We read those words differently than the “CURRENT” United States Supreme Court”.

They apparently don’t like a slightly more conservative Supreme Court than they used to have “Warren Court” so they will just write their own laws.

“Aloha”, what the hell does that shit even mean?

Great idea, let's give Peral Harbor to the Chi-Coms.

Independence, with a long term lease on PH. We gain by losing two communist senators.

“Aloha” and especially “mahalo” are contextual. When used to address haoles* generally can be translated as “F*** you white assh....”

*haole is somewhat similar in intent as the “n” word, but without the deep respect and genuine affection connotes by the n word.
